Amazing camping under the redwoods

We’ve been travel trailer camping twice to this campground and love it! Beautiful, large sites under the redwoods and along the Gualala River. The campground offers partial hook-ups with a dump service for a fee (dump station on site as well). There is a little camp store for basic camping / RV…

Nice and friendly little campground

Although we barely saw the sun because the campground was fully shaded by redwoods, it was a great experience. The river looked more like a big puddle of water so there was really nothing to do there. We hiked all the way across the road where the day use area is located. From there, there are…

Best boondocking spot

Surrounded by the ocean and remote on BLM - even off the main road to the Lighthouse. We had the best view, privacy, sound and view of the ocean. We watched the sunset as the tide came in, enjoyed the seals and saw a fox swing by our camper. Dry camping but there are portable toilets. A bit…

Very Clean Camping! Camping 🏕

Pomo is a great campground just a couple miles from the center of Fort Bragg. We stayed in spot 12 (full hookup) and the ATT service was pretty non existent. They have wireless internet but at our location it connected but it was so weak we gave up. Don’t bother with it. I had to do some online…

Excellent beach access, nice flat sites. Watch the videos, words can’t express the beauty here.

Love this place

I was very surprised by this campground. It was very quiet, well maintained with clean bathrooms and showers. There is an added bonus for all self contained vehicles. Since there's a temporary bridge in place, they are allowing self contained vehicles (potty in your vehicle) to stay at the beach…

Nice but rude staff

Nice place to camp. Very pretty. Not sure why we( and only us) weren't allowed to us the plug in for our RV. Very rude staff who work there.

Excellent find!

The land around the lighthouse is BLM land, and so the area along the road leading to the lighthouse is open to camping. There are several good pullouts along the road, and if those are taken, the parking lot outside the lighthouse is available as well. The parking lot filled up with vans and cars…

Quiet, great views, lovely people.

Manchester is a delightful spot to stay for the night or the whole week. The campground is clean, has a nice layout, and has very friendly hosts. Some spots are more exposed to the wind so if you have a tent or tent trailer you may want to check in with the host to find a spot that is more…

Off the beaten track but nice, safe, clean. $8 a night or $4 if you have an interagency pass. Large vault toilets. No water. There's a general store ~10 minutes away if you drive towards Shelter Cove. Bring your bug spray! Pretty quiet during the week but it filled up by Saturday.  Solo female…

Hidden Gem Near Mendocino

Having camped in quite a few places throughout California, there's very few campgrounds that equal that of Van Damme State Park. Let me count the high marks that this location features: oceanfront access, spartan clean restroom and shower facilities, well-organized grounds, close proximity to…

Great Getaway

We were able to book one of the last sites at Hendy Woods for a last minute getaway. The camp sites were well maintained and well marked, the campground host (Shirley) was friendly and respectful. It is a short drive to Fort Bragg and other coastal attractions as well as a multitude of wineries. I…

Hope someone sees this

I’ve been camping cross country for the last month with my husband. We’re from New York, and like to think we’re not easily rattled or intimidated. This was the first time on our trip that we were both scared.

The forest service website says this campground is not open for camping, just dirt bike…
