Best RV Parks & Resorts near Soda Springs, CA

Several RV parks operate within driving distance of Soda Springs, California, offering a range of amenities for motorhome travelers. Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort in Willits provides year-round access with full hookup sites and 50-amp electrical service for larger rigs. Harbor RV Park in Fort Bragg features big-rig friendly sites with full hookups and operates throughout all seasons. Dolphin Isle Marina & RV Park offers 30-amp service with sewer connections and accommodates larger motorhomes on level sites. Westport Beach RV Park and Campground maintains spacious pull-through sites with water and electric hookups, though without 50-amp service. "The sites are thoroughly cleaned upon check out," notes one Harbor RV Park visitor, who appreciated the property's maintenance standards despite tight spacing between units.

Coastal RV parks in this region typically require advance reservations during summer and fall months when tourism peaks. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with visitors reporting stronger signals at Fort Bragg facilities compared to more remote parks. Most RV campgrounds welcome pets but enforce leash requirements and designated pet areas. Dump stations are available at nearly all parks, with Caspar Beach RV Park, Wildwood RV Park, and Redwood Empire Fair RV Park offering sanitary dump facilities. One traveler mentioned that Dolphin Isle Marina "allows for easy access for paddle boarding, kayaking, and swimming" with convenient full hookups. Winter travelers should note that some coastal facilities like Dolphin Isle close except for long-term residents during November through early spring due to seasonal flooding risks.

Dolphin Isle Marina & RV Park

    Quiet, seals, deer and wildlife

We love this place. We've been here for 2 months now off and on. The site we are on is located between a marina and the Noyo River. It allows for easy access for paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming and seals, sea lions and other wildlife. Last night a 6 point deer walked past our site. The rates are pretty reasonable and the people that run the campgrounds are great to work with. There is a kayak/sup rental as well next door. If you're lucky the maintenance guy will sing or whistle while doing his work, and makes for a good show! It does close down except for long-term use in the winter time (November-??) due to coastal seasonal flooding. Internet can be occasionally spotty but we use AT&T and Verizon which work well. Cable is provided. Full hook ups. Due to Covid enquire about the bathroom situation when calling to book. Walking distance from the harbor and a quick bike ride to the bluffs overlooking the ocean.

Caspar Beach RV Park & Campground

    Steps from the beach

Its a super cramped campground for big rigs. Much nicer and more privacy if tenting. The best spot is “ocean view” but its time to change the name. That site is for tenting but can accommodate a small rv or van. The vegetation is so tall there is no actual ocean view. Restrooms are clean. Showers coin operated. Awesome location. Friendly folks. Good camp store.

Letts Lake Campground — Mendocino National Forest

    Dry Campig for 35' RV

We originally were going to Fouts Creek Campground but it was HOV weekend (Presidents). Lots of dirt bikes and law enforcement. National Forest pulled in officers from surrounding forests and Sheriff Depts.

With a 35' Class A our options were limited. A Ranger suggested Letts Lake. There is a narrow one lane newly paved road that goes up to Dixie Glade equestrian camp, from there it is dirt. Taking it slow, we made it to Letts Lake and parked in spot 12. It was a tight fit, but we made it.

There are two additional campgrounds at the opposite end of the lake but they are closed for winter. As there was no water or trash service there was no fee. Typically $5.00)

The lake is small with no motors allowed but easy to walk around. Pet friendly in fact all but one campsite had at least one dog.  Fire damage to the forest is substantial but new growth is already starting

    Middle Creek Campground

    Great place for dry camping

Beautiful location, campground was easily accessible going up Elk Mountain Road. Camped in Site 11, pull through, no hook ups, nice picnic table, grill and fire pit. Vault toilets, no showers. There is potable water close to the campsites. Very quiet during the week, it did get noisier on the weekends, but everyone settled down for the evening.

Westport Beach RV Park and Campground

    All the ammenities!

We spent 4 nights here with our travel trailer. We had a site with full hook ups, including sewage (no need for dumping station!!). This is a great campground that is right on the beach! It has showers, flushing toilets, a little store, fire wood for sale, dish washing station, and even WiFi! The campground was very clean and really perfect for families! Couldn’t recommend more!

    Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort

Great for families with little ones

We stopped here overnight on our way up the coast. Well maintained, nice facility and friendly staff. Definitely wouldn’t come back for long term camping as we have older teenagers. The facility is definitely geared toward families with smaller kids. It was great for what we needed.

    Different but to be expected

Wasn’t impressed by the long term population that seems to be residing there. It was quiet though and over all a decent stay. We spent 4 days there. The WiFi sucked and they put us in the far back. Stay closer to the front if you can in the premium spots. We didn’t know the difference. Non premium is in the way back, no fire pits and spotty WiFi.

    Gualala Point Regional Park

    Small but beautiful county campground

General: 19 general and six walk-in campsites among giant redwood and Bay Laurel trees on the Gualala River. Sites 17 & 18 are a double site.

Site Quality: Level sites with bear box, picnic table, and fire ring. Site One’s camper pad fit our 18-foot camper van, but it would not accommodate anything much larger. Several other camper pads looked short as well. No hookups.

Bath/Shower house: Three individual units with toilet, sink, soap, and paper towels. One shower that takes quarters – three minutes for $2.00.

Activities: There is a trail that leads through the walk-in sites, under Highway One, and to the beach, approximately 1.5 miles. You can also drive to the day-use area for a shorter walk. We were there on a weekday but there were many activities scheduled for the upcoming weekend including kayaking on Bodega Bay, outside yoga, and healthy hustle circuit training – I was sad to miss all of these options.

This campground is beautiful and peaceful. But note that although we did not encounter any, several other campers experienced over-eager raccoons while eating dinner. There was also a sign warning of mountain lions but we did not encounter any. Shout-out to the ranger who shared a lot of good information about the area.

    Just OK

We stayed one night on a trip down the 101. Lots of highway noise, no fire pits, seems like a lot of families here long term. Managers were nice.

Guide to Soda Springs

Camping in the Mendocino coastal region near Soda Springs, California offers year-round options within a maritime climate zone that moderates temperature extremes. The region sits at lower elevations compared to Soda Springs proper, with most campgrounds located between sea level and 500 feet elevation. Winter temperatures along this stretch of coastline typically remain above freezing, though seasonal flooding affects some facilities from November through early spring.

What to do

Beach activities: Access to private shorelines at Westport Beach RV Park and Campground allows for uninterrupted coastal recreation. "The beach is right there. You can see and or hear the waves crashing," notes camper Randy J., who appreciated how close camping spots were to the water.

Water sports: Launch directly from camp for paddleboarding and kayaking at several locations. Westport Beach offers "a stone's throw" access to the Pacific according to camper Brenda M., who noted "the beach was vast" directly from her motorhome site.

Family activities: Specialized facilities for children make certain campgrounds ideal for family outings. At Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort, Paul H. mentioned "there is a lot to do for small kids" including "a petting zoo, water play, pool, arcade and events," making it a structured alternative to beach camping.

What campers like

Private beach access: Limited public entry creates a more secluded experience at certain coastal sites. "The beach is private so it's just you and the other campers," observed Steven T. at Westport Beach RV Park, highlighting the exclusivity not found at state beaches.

Wildlife viewing: Harbor and coastal sites offer opportunities to observe marine mammals. At Dolphin Isle Marina & RV Park, one camper noted the riverside location provides views of "seals, sea lions and other wildlife," mentioning that "a 6 point deer walked past our site" during their stay.

Natural settings: Combination of forest and beach environments at several locations. Caspar Beach camper Rosemary A. described it as "a forest of trees right across the street from the crashing surf," adding that the tent camping area is "back away from RV's in the Redwoods."

What you should know

Road conditions: Access challenges exist for certain dispersed camping areas. At Usal Beach Campground, camper Ryan T. warned "the road coming into Usal is a pretty messed up mountain road" and recommended "AWD or 4WD," though noted they "did see a Scion TC come into the campground."

Campground layout variations: Significant differences in site arrangements and privacy between RV and tent areas. At Caspar Beach, Jessi P. observed that "the front half is narrow RV slots, but further back, it's lush, shaded and pretty quiet for tent or car camping."

Seasonal closures: Winter flooding risk affects operational schedules. While some facilities remain open year-round, others like Dolphin Isle Marina close to short-term visitors during winter months, accepting only long-term residents due to coastal flooding concerns.

Tips for camping with families

Dedicated children's activities: Structured options for younger campers at select locations. Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort offers a "mini waterpark" according to Amaya L., who also mentioned the "western themed town that hold little dances and ice cream parlor parties for kids."

Age-appropriate campground selection: Match facilities to your children's developmental stage. Melanie R. advised that Mendocino Redwoods is "definitely geared toward families with smaller kids" and "wouldn't come back for long term camping" with older teenagers.

Private amenities: On-site hot tubs available at premium sites. Erika L. stayed at "one of the premium hot tub sites" at Mendocino Redwoods where "you get your very own hot tub," noting her "kids absolutely loved it" and they were "just a few steps from the pool."

Tips from RVers

Site spacing considerations: Proximity to neighbors varies significantly between campgrounds. At Harbor RV Park, one visitor mentioned "tight sites" despite clean facilities, while another noted having "a great view of the ocean" despite the compact spacing.

Seasonal pricing fluctuations: Rate increases during peak periods. Paul H. noted his "chief complaint was the raising of prices a few years ago to an absurd amount for camping" at Mendocino Redwoods, suggesting budget-conscious RVers consider off-peak visits.

Bathroom access: Variable facilities depending on specific location within campgrounds. At Caspar Beach, Cyndie D. had sites "in the back by the restrooms, which were not working," though noted "there were plenty of port a potty's on the property and clean." She recommended going "back but only in RV or camper so I had my own bathroom."
