Friendly RV Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Heavy shade from mature conifers covers most sites at this RV park just off Interstate 5 in Weed. The campground accommodates rigs up to 45 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. Sites are positioned close together but staggered to provide some separation between neighbors.

Mount Shasta dominates the view from many spots throughout the park. Alicia F. notes the campground offers "Gorgeous Views Of Mount Shasta" and mentions it's "Within Walking Distance To Restaurants And Convenience Store." The dense tree cover creates cool conditions during summer months, though some campers find it damp during winter visits. Recently remodeled restrooms and shower facilities serve the campground, with designated pet areas available for travelers with dogs.

The location provides easy access from the interstate with minimal road noise reported by most visitors. Several restaurants and a convenience store sit within walking distance, making resupply simple for travelers passing through Northern California. For those exploring the broader region, campgrounds around Weed offer additional options in the Mount Shasta area.

Camp hosts receive consistent praise from visitors for their helpful approach to accommodating various rig sizes and camping needs. The park works well as an overnight stop for travelers or as a base for exploring Mount Shasta recreation opportunities.

Convenient to I-5 with a view of Mt Shasta

General: 45-site RV park just minutes off of I-5 in Weed, CA, with a mix of long-term and those, like us, passing through. There is a partial view of Mt Shasta from the RV park. It is a dog-friendly RV park.

Site Quality: Typical of an RV park, there is no physical separation between sites. Some back up to each other. Some have paved pads, while others are gravel. Some are wide enough to fit a vehicle next to your camper if needed. All sites are FHU. I can’t imagine tent camping would be allowed/feasible here. An effort has been made to make the sites nice - such as flower pots.

Bath/Shower: Two stalls, two sinks, and two showers. Clean, but while there was soap in the men’s bathroom, both dispensers in the women’s were empty.

Activities/Amenities: There is on-site laundry with two washers/dryers. There was a sign-up sheet to use these machines. Free Wi-Fi, although I was not successful in connecting to it. There is a horseshoe pit, although not sure it gets much use.

We arrived late after the office was closed, but there was a phone number to call, and the owners live on-site. We were told to go to our reserved spot of 16, but it was occupied, so we were able to take Site 18. Although the RV park was full, and sites were very close together, it was VERY quiet.

While not our preferred type of camping, we needed to dump our gray tank, and it was convenient to the freeway as we made our way north from the San Francisco Bay Area to Oregon, so it fit our needs for an overnight stay.

Good stop off do a night

We had a good stay at Friendly’s. They were very hospitable and the park was nice and quiet. It did seem to be a little bit more residential, but no problem with a one night stay.

Average Campground with nice hosts

Except that the camp hosts are extremely nice people. The campground is heavily shaded, which makes it nice in the summer but in the winter time it's kind of cold and damp. There are few places to fit a larger rig. I actually ended up taking two spaces, but they only charge me for one

Pleasant, Peaceful, and Reasonably Priced

After a few days of boondocking our way from San Diego to the Pacific Northwest we needed a place with hookups.  We were pleased with the ease of getting to our spot.  We had requested a pull-through and at first I was a little disappointed to find that our spot was right next to the entry road.  However, the traffic was minimal and it turned out to be a very peaceful evening and night.  The location has easy access to groceries and fuel with walkable access to a couple of fast food restaurants.  The area is obviously suffering some latent economic effects from COVID based on the closed Quality Inn motel next door, but it hasn't been turned into an eyesore.  I would consider this a great stopping point for anyone needing a restful night while passing through Northern California, or for anyone planning to enjoy the recreation opportunities in the Mount Shasta area.

Good for RV…

, but it appears as though the folks in their RVs were happy as could be so I would say for tent camping if you’re actually camping, not so much but in an RV it’s probably fine anyway, the people were very nice and took care of us

Perfect for the night

The door to the office was locked and lights were off when we arrived, despite the Open sign being on, but after a minute someone came to the door. They were polite and friendly, as the name suggests. I’m sure there are nice views of the mountain but it’s too stormy now to tell.
