Nice, easy camping - a hidden gem. The hosts are probably the nicest I have ever come across.
The door to the office was locked and lights were off when we arrived, despite the Open sign being on, but after a minute someone came to the door. They were polite and friendly, as the name suggests. I’m sure there are nice views of the mountain but it’s too stormy now to tell.
Nice distant view of the west side of the park and mountain range. Space for many vehicles, and there will probably be a handful at least. Not too crowded but Not too private. Teton River lazily passes by with opportunities for kayaking, SUP boarding, or fishing.
Yes, there are railroad tracks across the river, but the trains don’t use their horns here. The train noise is infrequent, brief, and mostly just a low rumbling.
The area is large, and individual spots are gigantic by most standards. Spots have tables and fire rings with grills, and there are toilets available. Sites are flat, clear, clean, and easy to maneuver in. Road is gravel but very well maintained.
You aren’t “on” the river, but you are on a small bluff above the river. Riverfront sites have paths down to the water, though some are steep and unstable.
