Take your pick: swimming, fishing, birding, boating of all kinds, waterskiing, camping, hiking or just plain relaxing and enjoying the unsurpassed natural beauty. It's all here . . . at Lake Claiborne State Park. For fishermen, the freshwater lake was lavishly stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill sunfish, channel catfish, black crappie, striped bass, chain pickerel, bream, and white perch. The lake itself, at full reservoir level, has a surface area of 6,400 acres.

Two-bedroom cabins are nestled among the pine trees, and many offer a view of the lake. The RV campground rests among the slopes of the north Louisiana foothills, offering shaded spots to get closer to nature. Whatever your preference for an overnight stay, you'll be sure to rest peacefully.

One of the most popular activities for visitors of all ages is swimming at the park's sandy beach. The beach is situated on an inlet of the lake and is protected from boats and waterskiers. So work up an appetite for that fresh fish supper by taking a brisk swim in Lake Claiborne's famous clear water. Ecologists and sportsmen alike hail the lake's excellent water quality, and you will too, once you've made the trip to Lake Claiborne. Once on-site, you will see the area come to life as a park naturalist will be available to present nature-based programs and give guided hikes.

Lake Claiborne SP offers the #1 and #2 ranked disc golf courses in the state. Both courses offer 2 sets of tee pads, the Blue tees are for the skilled players and the Red tees for the newer players or first timers at the park. Families are encouraged to check out discs at the fee station on their next visit. Both courses start and end at the entrance. Scorecards and maps are available to the fee station or in the below "Disc Golf" section.

The woods of Lake Claiborne are also home to a wide variety of wildlife. Lovely nature trails and a scenic overlook will allow you to appreciate the beauty of the area at your own pace. Or you may be interested in a variety of nature tours, offered on a regular basis.

Visitors to the north shore camp area should expect a more primitive atmosphere than the south shore facilities. There is no easy turn-around for large vehicles. The camp sites include a fire ring, lantern post, and picnic table. There are no restroom or trash receptacles at this North Shore location. There are a number of picnic tables near the South Shore boat launch that do include a restroom and trash recepticles.

        Quiet and well-kept

We only stayed one night but we will be coming back. There are only a couple of sites big enough for large rigs, but my 30' motorhome fit easy enough. There is no fee, a toilet and water available.

We had a beautiful sunset and sunrise with only nature sounds to listen to.

        Weekend Stay for Baseball Tournament

My nephew was playing in a baseball tournament in Ruston so we decided to stay for the weekend. It was nice to have a gate that closed at 6pm so you don’t have to worry about random people showing up. The park was very nice and clean. We had a pull through site that was nice but not a lot of room in any place for the pull throughs. Probably going to try a Premium back in next trip. We didn’t get to enjoy the trails or see the waterfall but we plan on going back so we can enjoy all of that.

        Quiet Weekend with Fun Activities

We stayed at spot 32. It was a very quiet spot that had a lot of shade but still had a view of the water. Close to the restrooms but not much through traffic. Large wide spots with paved cement made it easy to park and level. Full hook ups were nice. Trash cans were at every other campsite. There are only 33 RV spots at the park so it makes for a great getaway with not a ton of people. The site had good Verizon cell service, 2 bars with about 40-50 mbps. The walking path around the lake was really nice. The bike trails were really fun. They even kayaks for rent on the lake for a reasonable price. Overall the campground had great amenities and made for a great weekend getaway. We camped at Lincoln Parish Park in a Travel Trailer.

Well taken care of & beautiful

Really enjoyed our stay. View from the lake at all spots. Premium spots are nice and wide. It’s a small campground, so not too busy. There are lots of great spots to be around the park and lots to do. Not far from a grocery store or gas station. I really liked how quiet and spacious spot 32 was, but the ones on the lake are really nice, too. We could hear coyotes at night, I would probably not go for a hike with a dog or a small child during their peak hours. If you like watching birds, this is a great park to do so.

I cannot say enough about this RV park. We came through very late (12 pm) gave her a call and she got us taken care of! Very clean, well maintained, full hook ups and lots of extras! Unfortunately we weren’t there very long (7 hours), but we will be back!

        Great place to camp!!

We don’t have one complaint about our stay. The camp ground is very clean and in good shape. The pads are all asphalted so pretty level. Trash bins are at every other site and the bathroom is not a far walk. The temps are really hot but the bugs aren’t too bad. My family will be back!!

        Lincoln Parish Park

        Nice Location

I rented a tent site, perfect location under the trees but enough room to see the stars at night. Although it was full it was fairly quiet. The showers, though not fancy by any means, we’re a nice touch after riding the mountain bike trails all day. Trails give you enough miles to get a good workout in but something (most) of the family could do together.

        Shaded lakeside view

Quiet spot with heavy tree cover - don’t expect good Solar charging or satellite. Fantastic lakeside views, especially in the morning. Water hook ups next to most spots and primitive toilets in the middle of the camp area.

Paved roads and semi level RV spots - great spot to stop for a few days!

        Knights Landing RV Resort

        Very Good

Knights Landing is very well kept. It is surrounded by three ponds full of catfish that the owners allowed us to fish in. The internet connection is the best we have experienced. All the equipment was new. The owners, Jason and Ashely, were great host. There was some shade early in the morning and after 4 pm. I would highly recommend this RV park for a stop on the way to somewhere or for a hunting camp. In the summer the cost is now $45.

Kels Kove ls s hidden Gem, beautiful property alongside the lake. Very Friendly Staff and the property looks well taken care of. I met some really cool people and plan to visit a few times a year. They also have a country store with Beer, Alcohol, and all other essentials. ATT works best, Verizon and Tmobie are spotty reception. The lake is Big, try and get out on the water when visiting!

        Sugar Creek Hunt Camp Dispersed

        Peaceful

We found this spot after seeing that North shore wasn't maintained and south shore was too crowded. It's just a pull off area at the end of a two mile gravel road. It is a hunt camp so you might have a truck or two drive by but other than that we were the only ones out here so it was real quiet and there's at least three "spots" where a big rig like ours (35ft) can fit just fine. There are vault toilets and secure trash cans which were nice to have. Decent enough service.

        Peaceful Escape

No doubt about it, this park is beautiful. Apparently it’s known for its mountain biking and other trails, but camping here was wonderful. The park staff was super friendly and took pride in the work of keeping up the park. The Rv spots all had a great view of either the lake or the amazing woods. The on-site bathhouse was clean and well taken care of.

        Beautiful beautiful beautiful place

This is not my first time to visit but rapidly becoming a favorite. Each trip is different and I find different ways to get more out of the park. They have great hiking trails, sites by the lake, and now I’ve discovered the biking trails too. There’s disc golf, a tennis center and multiple playgrounds. You can camp out in the campground or stay in a cabin or lodge. They also have canvas tents on wooden decks that are super cute. I stayed in the RV for my visit and have both water and electric at my site.

        Campsites with lake view

White Oak Lake is beautiful. Most, if not all, campsites offer a view of the lake. Spent 2 nights here in February. Only 2 other campsites occupied. Camped in a camper van. Except for nearby blasts (gunshots?) at 9am each morning, the campground was very quiet. The restroom/ shower facilities were very clean. The campsites are also clean. 30amp & 50amp service available. Fire ring, table, lantern hook, and water at each site. Good hiking trails. Tall pine trees throughout, but no privacy between campsites. Sites are close to the campground loop roads, and close together. Not sure if I would enjoy staying here during the peak season, but a good place to stay in the summer. Filks in the office were friendly & helpful. Fire is available for sale.

Lake D'Arbonne State Park — New Lake D'arbonne State Park

Beautiful state park with something for everyone

This lakeside state park has RV and tent camping, cabins, lodges and YURTS available. There are also day use pavilions available for family reunions, employee barbecues or birthday celebrations. You can also rent a meeting room in the visitors center.

There are lots of recreational opportunities which include hiking, biking, fishing, canoe and kayak rentals, tennis courts and an 18-hole disc golf course. They also have a large hiking trail system. Closed right now but available Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend they also have a really large swimming pool. A tornado hit the park in March 2021 and there’s still some trees down and a brief section of the trail I walked on today that wasn’t accessible but it is an easy detour amazing how much they have restored.
