Campers arrive at this Forest Service campground via a rough access road that becomes more challenging in wet conditions. The layout reflects its origins as a tent-focused facility, with shared parking areas requiring short walks to individual sites scattered along Corney Lake's southern shoreline. Fred S. notes the campground is "confusing" since "campsites are not marked" and explains that "RV campers can probably park on the parking pads and walk to nearby picnic tables."
The grounds maintain a consistently clean condition according to multiple reviews, with vault toilets stocked with supplies and water pumps distributed throughout the camping area. Most sites occupy grassy surfaces without formal tent pads, while those in the campground's center offer the most level ground. Sites closer to the lake slope gently downward toward the water. Metal fire rings and lantern poles mark some locations, though evidence suggests previous campers have created additional fire spots.
Direct lake access defines the camping experience here, with reviewers frequently mentioning fishing opportunities from both shoreline and the nearby pier. A day-use area includes a boat ramp and pavilion with grilling facilities. The mature pine canopy provides partial shade but may limit solar charging capabilities. Cell service from AT&T and T-Mobile operates sporadically throughout the property.
The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees required. RVs up to 50 feet can access the area, though maneuvering space remains limited to a few suitable spots for larger rigs. Lea B. confirms "there are only a couple of sites big enough for large rigs, but my 30' motorhome fit easy enough."
This primitive camping option works best for those comfortable with unmarked sites and willing to walk short distances from parking to camping areas, particularly appealing to tent campers and smaller RV owners seeking lakeside access within campgrounds around Kisatchie National Forest.
