Several RV parks near Dennard provide full-service accommodations year-round. Gilbert RV Park offers water and electric hookups with concrete pads for easy leveling at all sites. Mountain View RV Park and Guest Motel operates seasonally from March through December with full hookups including sewer connections and 50-amp service. Fairfield Bay RV Campground features electric and water sites positioned along the shoreline of Greers Ferry Lake, though the access roads require careful navigation due to deteriorating pavement. Mockingbird Mountain Resort accommodates larger RVs with both 30-amp and 50-amp service options on level sites. "The campsite itself was fine. No trees to offer shade, but fairly private. The owners were very kind and helpful."

Navigating to these parks requires planning as several are positioned on sloping terrain with potentially challenging access roads. The road infrastructure throughout the area ranges from well-maintained highways to narrow mountain routes with sharp curves. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Fairfield Bay requires using a communal dump site located approximately half a mile from the campground. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region, with several reviewers noting minimal coverage at Golden Pond RV Park and Fairfield Bay. Many parks accommodate pets with designated walking areas, though specific breed restrictions may apply. Seasonal considerations include limited availability during peak fall foliage viewing periods and potential closures during winter months for some facilities.

      Whitewater RV Park

      No frills Downhome

Mountain View is a great small town in the Arkansas Ozarks. This is not the place to come if you have to be entertained but can make your own fun or settle back and relax. Whitewater RV Park sounds exciting, high speed but no. Time to kickback, read a book, head to the square and listen to the ozark mountain music they are famous for. You can find all kinds of things to do and a place to stay is at Whitewater RV Park on a quiet town street not that far off from the court square. Free WiFi and if you pay extra you can get high speed wireless. Cable tv, pull through sites, dump station, full hook ups, laundry, shower house, flush toilets. This park has mature trees with lots of shade. It is located walking distance from the courthouse which is in the middle of the square. Granted it is UP the hill but it makes for a nice walk. In the square during the season you will often find locals and visitors picking and singing. It is a treat and free for the enjoyment. Mountain View also has one of the few remaining Drive In movie theaters. Check this place out for the weekly and monthly rates. Stay six nights and get seventh one free. For a small town Mountain View has so much to offer it’s guests. It brings our minds to days gone be. Weekends will find pickers on the square or concerts at Ozark Folk Center. Few campgrounds have pools but you can find a creek to dip your toes in. You have your choice of stand up paddle board canoe kayak Loco Ropes mountain biking hiking antiquing movie’s trail rides fishing I think you have the idea. MOVIES. Mountain View has a movie theater and one of the few drive in theaters left in th USA. Both offer first run movies.
Have fun. Leave No Trace. Better than you found it.

Petit Jean State Park — Petit Jean State Park

      Fantastic State Park

Camped here on May 1, 2025. This is one of my favorite state parks in the USA. Lots to do here. Fantastic hiking trails - rated from easy to difficult. Since I live only 45 minutes from this park, I normally come here for the day for hiking. This time, I got around to trying out the park's campground. This popular campround is divided into 4 areas - A through D. There are a total of 125 campsites, including 26 pull-through sites. Thirty-five of the sites are Class AAA sites which have 50 amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are 90 Class B sites offering 30 amp electrical and water hookups. All sites are reservable. Tent and hammock camping is possible depending on the sites. I camped at site 103 in Area D. The staff at the office helped me pick this site for my campervan. The site had water and 30amp service. The restroom/shower house was clean and well maintained. The campsite itself was dated but clean. The site was large and had trees around it offering a little bit of privacy. The pull-thru drieway was close to the campground road. The site included a picnic table, tent pad, lantern pole, metal fire ring, and grill. Solar charging and Starlink connectivity may not be possible at this site; Area C has an open sky above it. There was some road noise from vehicles driving on Petit Jean Mountain Road which is behind the site. Received good AT&T 5G cell service, but little to no T-Mobile 2G service.  Areas C and D are in the woods. Most of the sites in these areas are on the small size but should easily accomodate a truck camper and smaller. Not all sites are level. Areas A and B can accomodate large rigs and towables.

      Blue Sky RV Park

      Great Spot

This place is so much bigger than it looks. Great pull through sites. Great sites for family camping. It is located not far from town on a busy highway Highway 5 but once you pull off the road you would never know. Very shaded and mature trees. Owner has tried to think of everything but you will not find a swimming pool There are several outside family games and the local area is Loaded with fun things to do. Blue Sky even has event space that you can rent if you are staying in the park. 30 and 50 amp service cable TV available, free WiFi high speed with additional charge. Weekly and monthly rates available and check out the seventh night free. White River is not far, bring a boat or rent one. Trout fishing is great. Your options are open in this small community.  Get ready because Arkansas has ticks, chiggers, and humidity.

I think that gives you ideas. Mountain View has a movie theatre and one of the last remaining drive in theaters left in the USA. You will find first run movies at both. Mountain View RV Park and Guest Motel

Good Things Come In Small Packages

I have driven by this campground numerous times not paying a lot of attention. Today I paid attention and realized I have made a mistake. There is a high fence that assist in keep this corner of Mountain View private. An oasis for anyone that wishes to venture in. A traveler will find a welcome smile and an amazing view. They will also find a well maintained campground and a motel. The campground offers concrete pads or gravel, 30 and 50 amp service, full hook ups, cable tv, wi-fi, high speed for extra fee, coin operated laundry, community fire pit with wood provided, dog friendly, showers and toilets and more. The motel offers all the amenities you would expect to find in a branded hotel/motel. There are eight motel rooms and two cabins available for rent. Both the campground and motel have access to two recreation rooms. Both have full kitchens, tv, stereo, dining tables and chairs. One recreation room has limited exercise equipment. There is 1.5 acres of green space that is also available for all guest. The view from the green space is worth dreaming over that morning cup of coffee. There are things you will not find in many campgrounds in Mountain View. Much of the entertainment in this area will be of a natural source. Weekends will find pickers on the square or concerts at the Ozark Folk Center. If you want to take a dip look to the creeks or the river. Stand up paddle boarding, canoe, kayak, Loco Ropes, mountain bike trails, hiking, antiquing, trail rides, fishing and I’m sure you get the idea. Movies. There is a movie theatre and the cherry on top is a drive in movie. Mountain View Drive In is one of only a few left in the US. You will find first run movies at both.

      Dam Site Campground

      Very nice and clean

We stayed 3 nights over a weekend in early September. We had a pull through site in loop N that was perfect for our 41’ fifth wheel...plenty big, clean, and level. It was a little sunny, but other than that no complaints. The other loops were more wooded, but wouldn’t be good for big rigs. We will definitely come again.

      Dam - Quarry

      Clean campground, nice location

Average space between sites. Level paved sites with gravel picnic area including picnic table, fire ring, lantern hanger. Some sites had covered picnic area. Limited shade, most sites don’t have trees. Good access to sites. Clean and private bathrooms. Each room had its own lockable bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Garbage cans were outside of bathrooms, as well as dumpsters near the registration building. Friendly staff upon check in. Campground was patrolled regularly. No laundry or recycling. Nearby road with little road noise. Verizon cell signal was excellent. There is a dump station and potable fill station. No store or food for purchase on site. No hiking in campground, but multiple trails nearby. Boat ramp at campground and lots of wading fly fishing in river. Fish hatchery across from campground.

      White Buffalo Resort

      Beautiful

This location was our maiden voyage with our new fifth wheel RV. White buffalo resort is a beautiful place to stay with very friendly and helpful staff. Met some friendly, long-term RV’ers. The only drawback is they don’t have a bike trail except for around the campground (4stars). They offer free Wi-Fi, has a nice clean pool, adequate playground and pavilion. Scenery is fantastic.

      Sylamore Creek Camp

      Great site!

We love this campground. We love having direct access to creek. It is kayak, family, pet friendly. The only thing it is lacking is internet connection, which for us is a plus for disconnecting. All sites are reasonably level. Site F is the premium and most secluded full hook up site. They have all levels of sites: primitive, water and electric, or full. Their small store has firewood and many other convenient items for sale. We take our own kayaks, but they do have rentals. They have public showers and restrooms, but the restrooms are currently closed due to renovations. It’s really one of our favorite local sites to camp.

Greers Ferry Dam Site is one of several around the lake created by the Greers Ferry Dam which created the 40,000 acre lake.  The dam was dedicated by John F Kennedy one month prior to his death.

Be aware that many of the sites might be hard to back into or hard to level your rig.  The area is thickly wooded and that might make it difficult.  There are a lot of large moss covered rocks that help to set the scene for  wooded wonderland for tents and smaller rigs.  Check your site before parking this park like many of the Corp of Engineer parks are older and built with tent and small RV's in mind.  It is a beautiful site and in Arkansas you must try the fishing

Directions:  3 miles northeast of Heber Springs, AR by way of SR 25 Bypass.

    Guide to Dennard

Recreational vehicle accommodations near Dennard, Arkansas, offer travelers access to the rugged Ozark highlands at elevations between 700-1,500 feet. The region's karst topography creates numerous springs, caves, and limestone formations that influence camping conditions. Summer temperatures average 85-95°F with high humidity, while spring and fall bring milder weather and spectacular foliage.

    What to do

Paddle the Buffalo River: Located about an hour north of Dennard, the Buffalo River provides excellent kayaking and canoeing opportunities. At Gilbert RV Park, campers can access the river easily. "When we pulled into the campground we were met with friendly smiles! Jim and his wife are super nice and very helpful!! We got all setup and enjoyed our time around Gilbert. The quiet little town with some live music occasionally. Probably just a little over a quarter mile walk to the river or drive down to gravel bed where you can park."

Visit Ozark Folk Center: The state park preserves traditional mountain crafts and music. Mountain View RV Park and Guest Motel provides convenient access. "We had a back in spot along the ridge with a pretty field behind us and an amazing view. The staff was wonderful very helpful laundry rooms bathrooms were very clean they also have free Wi-Fi and cable."

Explore Greers Ferry Lake: The lake offers fishing, boating and swimming from March through November. "The Fairfield Bay/Greers Ferry lake area in general is my heaven on earth, and this marina/campground is smack dab in the middle of it. The marina has a very nice, well stocked shop with a little cafe around the corner. The lake is amazing and a wonderful place to fish or just boat around on."

    What campers like

Scenic mountain views: Many RV parks near Dennard feature elevated sites with panoramic vistas. At Mockingbird Mountain Resort, level sites accommodate large rigs while still providing scenic surroundings. One visitor noted it's "New to the Dyrt!" and the resort offers both 30-amp and 50-amp service options.

Local music scene: Mountain View's courthouse square hosts impromptu folk music performances. "This is not the place to come if you have to be entertained but can make your own fun or settle back and relax. Whitewater RV Park sounds exciting, high speed but no. Time to kickback, read a book, head to the square and listen to the ozark mountain music they are famous for."

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained amenities at rv parks in Dennard and surrounding communities. "The bath house is clean, with number pad locks on the doors so only guests can use. The town square is only 1/4 mile away. A nice park for walking is next door. They also have laundry facilities and great Wifi!"

    What you should know

Cell service limitations: Coverage varies significantly throughout the region. "Not much for cell service - at best 1 bar with AT&T." Many campgrounds compensate with WiFi, though quality varies. "Free WiFi and if you pay extra you can get high speed wireless."

Terrain considerations: The Ozark region features significant elevation changes. At Fairfield Bay RV Campground & Marina, "our site had the back of our trailer overlooking the lake. That was okay, we just set up our chairs behind the trailer for an enjoyable view. But the truck was at such an angle because the sites are level but on a steep slope. Hence, my angle had me backing downhill. Once my trailer was on level site, my truck was at an angle, I could not get my weight distribution bars off."

Seasonal operation: Several campgrounds close during winter months. "Mountain View RV Park and Guest Motel operates seasonally from March 1 to December 1" while others remain open year-round with reduced services. During fall color season, reservations are essential as demand exceeds availability.

    Tips for camping with families

Animal encounters: Some campgrounds feature farm animals children can visit. "The owners have some animals on the property (goats, chickens, dog) penned up. The kids enjoyed visiting there everyday. There's also a little koi pond, an above-ground swimming pool, as well as a playground and laundry."

Free fishing activities: Harrison RV Park & Campground offers family-friendly amenities. "The owners were extremely nice and helpful everything was very clean we had a very enjoyable stay and loved the area!" Another visitor mentioned, "I remember one of my favorite things when I went there as a child was when they'd give me a bag of fish food to throw to the massive catfish off the dock."

Swimming options: Few campgrounds near Dennard have swimming pools, but natural water features provide alternatives. "If you like hiking, you can go less than a quarter mile off almost any main road and see abundant wildlife, a meandering creek, sometimes even a waterfall! There are hiking trails literally everywhere, of all kinds of difficulty levels."

    Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Come prepared with extra leveling blocks for sloped sites. "You better have extra chuck blocks, because your tow vehicle sits on a heck of an angle, at my site." Another RVer noted, "Hard to level. We were unable to use auto level and had to manually level. The front jacks were hardly down at all and the back jacks will all the way down."

Park selection: When choosing an RV park near Dennard, Arkansas, site layout significantly impacts experience. "Our site was up front so we had a little road noise from the 2 lane highway but it wasn't bad. Sites further back would be quiet. Gravel pads that are level." Another camper added, "The spots are level and easy to pull through. The bath house is clean and well maintained. Tons of shade trees but limbs are all kept trimmed away from RV's."
