We booked one night here during a southwest roadtrip. I should have looked into the Google reviews because there weren't any on this app at the time. This "campground" sits directly beside a sketchy excuse of a "motel." Actually they are ran by the same people. The motel had multiple rooms with full windows busted out, large amounts of trash and junk piled everywhere outside (broken furniture, trash, scrap), the "pool" they advertise was empty with weeds growing up in it, and many long-term residents of the motel hanging out in the lot, on the second story, and going in and out of each other's open rooms. It looked like something straight out of a movie or TV show that was portraying a poor, rundown, drug-infested neighborhood. We drove past that and into the small campground area. It had lots of run-down campers with junk piled around them as well. I wish I had taken pictures because I couldn't believe how trashy this place looked. We made the decision not to stay there for the night. We were afraid our camper or truck would be broken into if we left them there. It was not somewhere we felt safe staying with our children. We found a much nicer and safer KOA down the road in Texarkana that was actually cheaper and stayed there instead. We may have lost the money we paid for a night at this place, but the peace of mind was worth it!
Nice trail, be better after a rain . Level 1 for sure . Some dispersed sites towards end of this end . Residential before you get to end . 2 Dogs running around . So please go speed limit through res’ . Fires aloud , hella mosquitoes. Dogs around too .
It was great. 2nd trip in a month! We stayed in #9, right by lake. Great view and again, no problem with camp fires. Burned good!
Our first camping trip. Great place to relax. Met several nice folks. Park is very clean and well kept. Asphalt pads are very nice. Nice playground for the kids.
This is our second time here. Decided to make a quick 2 night stay for Spring Break and this trip was as good as the first. The sites and bathrooms are kept up great. Don’t hesitate to plan a trip here.
and spent some time walking through the forest. We would go back again.
We only stayed one night but we will be coming back. There are only a couple of sites big enough for large rigs, but my 30' motorhome fit easy enough. There is no fee, a toilet and water available.
We had a beautiful sunset and sunrise with only nature sounds to listen to.
Excellent Long weekend! We arrived around 2:00, about half of the sites were open. We stayed in #6 with great view of lake. Flat site and plenty of distance between sites. Clean and we had no problems building a fire every evening.
Easy to get to and great spots on the late! free!
I cannot say enough about this RV park. We came through very late (12 pm) gave her a call and she got us taken care of! Very clean, well maintained, full hook ups and lots of extras! Unfortunately we weren’t there very long (7 hours), but we will be back!
We don’t have one complaint about our stay. The camp ground is very clean and in good shape. The pads are all asphalted so pretty level. Trash bins are at every other site and the bathroom is not a far walk. The temps are really hot but the bugs aren’t too bad. My family will be back!!
Nice campground on a loop many sites have lake view. Nice hiking trails. I didn’t use the bathhouse facilities but did see host cleaning them daily. Mountain bikers like the trails. I don’t ride a mountain bike but saw some out there when I was hiking. My site was very nice and level. Not completely secluded but large enough that I felt like I had plenty of privacy. The site I had overlooked the boat launch area which is separate from the campground but the fishermen were quiet. I never heard them putting in or taking out their boats.
Nice and quiet 20+ campground with 30& 50 Amp service with water at each site. Camp toilets and showers, Fishing, convenience store three miles away with 7 days a week beer sales
Spot #29 is the best! Beautiful park, great fishing, kids loved the beach!
Not busy at all this time of year. Nice place. Bathrooms aren’t the greatest but get the job done. Camp hosts nice but doesn’t seem to do much. Trails are ok but more like pathways.
Quiet spot with heavy tree cover - don’t expect good Solar charging or satellite. Fantastic lakeside views, especially in the morning. Water hook ups next to most spots and primitive toilets in the middle of the camp area.
Paved roads and semi level RV spots - great spot to stop for a few days!
Wi-Fi did not work anywhere in park (signal Broadcasted fine just no connection to internet) AT&T is non existent.
Bathrooms clean. Park clean. Great views.
Believe it was a 2 night minimum. One night overstay is sufficient. Nice, empty campground. Didn’t see a single human. Some sites have water access for throwing a line in. Trail between the caney lakes was nice.
34 ft fiver, one night passing through. Not very well maintained. spots are close together. all gravel. right off I-20. full hookups with average (spotty) internet. walking distance to food. we did not unhook. The bath / showers are very nice and large and clean. It's good sam, and your options for another close good sam is limited.
Enjoyed our stay. Bathhouses were good.
Whitetail deer, owls, fish/gar, butterflies, dragonflies, fireflies, and much more! Sites right on the Lake. Two Disc Golf Courses and hiking trails. Nice facilities with all lodging options from primitive tent, yurt, RV hookups, and cabins.
Bodcau has a wonderful new disc golf course! Among tons of land to explore. Campground in by the Reservoir/Dam. Great facilities and well maintained. Park of kiddos, fish cleaning station, gun range, and much more!
On a highway in a very impoverished small town. Road noise constant. Clean. Gravel parking area pull throughs with full hook ups. Mostly filled with residents. Office was closed. No gate, no security. Called number to check in and seemed to ruin older woman's day by calling. "Grass" to walk dogs was solid stickers. Broken fence leading into a Mexican restaurant next door featured many loud drinkers wandering their parking area. Felt unwelcome, not very safe, and won't return. Left at sunrise.
Kels Kove ls s hidden Gem, beautiful property alongside the lake. Very Friendly Staff and the property looks well taken care of. I met some really cool people and plan to visit a few times a year. They also have a country store with Beer, Alcohol, and all other essentials. ATT works best, Verizon and Tmobie are spotty reception. The lake is Big, try and get out on the water when visiting!
Great Lake spots no sewer on lake spots, no hot water last night in the bath house.
This is not my first time to visit but rapidly becoming a favorite. Each trip is different and I find different ways to get more out of the park. They have great hiking trails, sites by the lake, and now I’ve discovered the biking trails too. There’s disc golf, a tennis center and multiple playgrounds. You can camp out in the campground or stay in a cabin or lodge. They also have canvas tents on wooden decks that are super cute. I stayed in the RV for my visit and have both water and electric at my site.
This lakeside state park has RV and tent camping, cabins, lodges and YURTS available. There are also day use pavilions available for family reunions, employee barbecues or birthday celebrations. You can also rent a meeting room in the visitors center.
There are lots of recreational opportunities which include hiking, biking, fishing, canoe and kayak rentals, tennis courts and an 18-hole disc golf course. They also have a large hiking trail system. Closed right now but available Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend they also have a really large swimming pool. A tornado hit the park in March 2021 and there’s still some trees down and a brief section of the trail I walked on today that wasn’t accessible but it is an easy detour amazing how much they have restored.
