The campground runs two loops, and the layout shapes the experience considerably. Sites on the upper ridge have open sightlines toward the lake but require a drive to reach the water; the lower loop puts campers closer to the shoreline, though those sites run smaller and closer together. RVs up to 85 feet can be accommodated, and electric hookups are available throughout, but water hookups are not at individual sites. As Cheri H. advises, "Fill up fresh water before you get there."
Leveling is a recurring issue. Multiple reviewers flag sites that slope enough to challenge RV setup, and at least one site near the lake edge has a significant drop-off behind the pad. Cell coverage is inconsistent, with stronger signal on one side of the campground and near-zero on the other. The bathhouses are older but consistently reported as clean, with heated showers and a deep sink with hot water. Ants are present. The Iron Mountain trail system runs adjacent to the campground, and fishing is accessible from the shore.
Crowd levels tend to stay light outside peak summer weekends. Anglers and paddlers make good use of the lake access, and the adjacent trail system draws mountain bikers as well. Campers researching places to camp around DeGray Lake will find several Corps-managed options in the area; COE Degray Lake Shouse Ford Campground is one nearby alternative, and a state park roughly ten minutes away provides full hookups for those who need them.

Iron Mountain Campground sits on the southern banks of DeGray Lake in the foothills of the Quachita Mountains.
Recreation
Boating, water skiing, kayaking and other water sports are the biggest draw to the lake, and a boat ramp and full service marina are provided. The lake is also stocked with a variety of game fish, including plenty of hybrid striped bass, making it an ideal area for both boat and bank fishing. Numerous hiking and horseback riding trails wind around the lake shore.

Degray Lake is one of the region's five Diamond Lakes, known for their crystal clear waters. The lake flows from the Caddo River in western Arkansas and spans 13,500 surface acres.

The DeGray Lake Resort State Park offers golf courses, tennis courts, horseback riding trails and more along the 207 miles of lake shoreline. The Ouachita National Forest and Hot Springs National Park are both located nearby.
