Willow Beach Day Trip

We live in Vegas and took a day trip to fish a little and check out the RV sites. I tried to book a space but this place is so popular they didn't have any open weekend spots until March 2024. We did book a site for April. Plan to fish here more before our camping trip in April. I have been here before and rented a canoe for a few hours. Emerald cove is amazing. The restaurant serves good food and the people working in the store are very friendly and helpful.

Great space

As we descended toward the river with our Scamp in tow, the thermostat rose. 87°, 92°, 96°, 98° oh boy! We pulled into our site, filled with beautiful rigs and large air conditioners, lol. The facilities, store, docks, beach, nature were excellent. Optimistic it would cool down at night.. Long story short, it didn’t. Wouldn’t change a thing. It was an adventure I would do again in a heartbeat with my reconditioned, air conditioned 1964 Avion!

Beautiful and serene

I only got to spend one night in this campground regretfully they were booked for the next night. However it is a beautiful area and the campground has such nice amenities (individual shower rooms, washer and dryer, etc.). The Camp Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!

Hidden gem for paddlers

Approx 2.5 miles upstream is emerald cave. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

Winds can pick up rapidly and without notice. Fortunately there are little coves and beaches to pull off to if you need to wait it out or you need to rest if getting caught in the wind.

Great get away.

Stayed in site C3. A very clean and well maintained campground. Visited in December and spent 3 night. Full hook ups for all drive thru and back in camp sites. There are tent sites also and everything is well maintained. There are tables and fire pits  at all sites and lantern pole in all tent sites. Very quiet, within walking distance to Lake Mead, but all up hill on the way back. Great scenery, and a lot of recreational things at the marina.  Boat, kayak, paddleboard rentals are available. Fishing dock close by. Can even visit the fish hatchery up river, which is a short walk. Store with about everything you need and a small restaurant. Campground has showers and laundry. They take passes and the price is going up next season. But still a good deal especially with a pass. Reservations thru the Campground website. No cell service, but internet is available. Will be going back.

Immaculate site, elevated above the river

Extremely clean and well maintained RV site at the end of a rugged road. Very hot in August.  A fair walk to get down to the water. There is a restaurant here but we didn't use it. Kayaked on the water which is very cold!

Camp hosts were very nice and helpful. Only issue was connecting to the internet as there is no cell service here. Host was able to figure it out when the tech support couldn't. Android users need to go to settings and in advanced switch to phone mac ( not randomized mac)

A lot of beauty to take in!

We stayed here two nights in Site D8. Extremely hot this time time of year!  99 degrees even at 7 am.  The heat seems to radiate off the gorgeous rocks in the evening so not much relief when the sun goes down. But, TOTALLY worth the heat to experience the breathtaking views and the experience to kayak down the Colorado River.  Plenty of space between campsites.   Level Campsite. Only Con was no cell service (and I have 3 AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile) and their free WIFI was hit or miss. Mostly, a miss.  I would still recommend this campground and would come back in the Fall/Winter for sure!

Short 15 minute or so drive into Boulder City, NV for restaurants, bars and shopping.

Unexpected Beauty!

We drove down the narrow desert road into the dry mountains and were blown away by the water oasis hidden in the otherwise barren landscape. It is gorgeous! The campground set high above the water with perfectly level, absolutely immaculate sites tucked in the rocky surroundings. This was a special place. We wish we had planned more time here!! Boat rentals, kayaks, a gas pump, and eating place were available at this hidden gem!!

Great spot for camping, kayaking and fishing

I just came through last month and seen plenty of RV's in the campsites, but I didn't see any tents. The weather may have something to do with it, as it can get quite hot along the river. The sites have hookups and amazing views of the river and surrounding mountains. There is an area for kayaks, boat dock and even a fishing pier/bridge. Didn't get the chance to fish but seen plenty of people fishing and pulling fish out the river. The campground is up a road into a small valley and extremely well maintained. The place was absolutely spotless of trash and debris. Plenty of space for rigs and the sites are not on top of each other.

You will definitely want an RV in the summer months. Temperatures well exceeded 100 degrees F. RV park has full hookups and amazing views. Very close to the river and marina. Camp store is well stocked. Fuel available as well. Grill is well priced. Great experience and favorite kayaking spot near las vegas.

Wifi and Showers

We camp here when we rent kayaks to go on the river.  They have showers, bathrooms and wifi which is really convenient due to spotty cell reception.  I feel like the spots are a little tightly packed (I am a tent camper) and I also feel like its a little pricey - I think the last time I camped here I paid 30 dollars a night for a tent site.  They do have online reservations and they tend to fill up quickly especially in the springtime which is the nicest time of year to camp here.

I've never seen coyotes here or have been bothered by any wildlife at all.  I also really appreciate that people here keep their dogs leashed so they don't come roaming into my site.  My dog likes people but she doesn't like other dogs.

Really nice but HOT!!

The campground was great, all new and clean but it’s VERY HOT there. Not surprising given the location but we went in June and hit a heat wave and it was 110 degrees. There is no shade in the campground and the lake is down a steep hill. Plan on driving down to the lake or the walk back up will be brutal in the heat. Bring beach gear including a portable tent for shade. They don’t sell anything there and it’s a drive from the closest store. It’s too hot in the summer to do anything but hang by the lake. The water is freezing btw, but you need it. After the lake we all hang out inside the RV with the A/C until at least 8pm before going out to cook dinner because it was that hot.

Dusty and rocky, BUT...

This campground has some solid facilities. Between access to a bathroom, shower, and a nearby dock that serves food, what more do you need in the area? We even had access to WiFi! Good for a stargazing app I was using. It’s not far from Las Vegas either of you’re wanting a short getaway from the city.

The campgrounds are on the edge of what feels more like an R/V site, and each of the sites are a bit close to one another so don’t expect to have the place “to yourself.” Now, what this spot really has that is great is easy access to a nearby dock that rents everything from paddle boards to boats. Get a kayak and head over to Emerald Cove up river for a short distance for a very cool experience. Reservations are thought to get so do it in advance.

Excellent cross county 1-night rest

Stayed here one night.  The road down from the main highway was a little rocky, but once at the lake, the area was well deserved.  While no trees in the RV area really, it was just fine for night sky enjoyment. The grounds were very clean and wide surfaced RV spots.  Easy back in and hook ups in minutes. We pulled in at dark and left the next morning, but what we did see of the area it was nice. Our late night slips were easily accessed.  We didn't have any service or WiFi though.  Great job AZ on your state park!

Clean as can be

Make sure you are aware that it’s 25 dollars to get into willow beach if you have the America the beautiful pass than it’s free, if not plan to pay the entrance fee on top of your camping fee which starts at $50.00. Make sure you check into the marina after going through the entrance they will give you your information for your camp site. Super impressed with this camp ground. Each place has a grill, fire ring and table. I recommend bringing your own pop up for shade because it’s hot no matter the time of the year and they have no shaded spots. SPOTLESS is an understatement for how clean this place is. This camp ground has full hooks ups, clean showers and bathrooms and plenty of trash cans through the camp. Also Freshly paved roads so anyone can make it. Super impressed and a short drive or walk to the river. And then you can have fun in the sun! We got swimmers itch so make sure you have plenty of sunblock on and don’t stay towards the shore because we have littles and that’s what we did and broke out the next day.

Still a great spot!

This is my second stay and review of this campground this year. This time we scored D05, the lowest spot in elevation on the grounds. The sites on this end are very spacious with no neighbors nearby. This site is next to a trail, so the occasional hiker does mosey by. The willow tree on the site is pretty, but beware is home for a nest of bees and ants; neither of which bothered us.

Still a great campground for getting away.

Clean, Nice, Beautiful Views

All paved. Even the 4 mile road from the Park Gate. I wasn't aware that we needed to pay a park fee even though we booked the site. However if you buy a year pass for 20.00 you get half off your RV space. Havent gone to the marina yet to check to see if the spot is half, but that is what the lady said at the park check in (not RV check in). The power, sewer and water were very organized. Spots clean and organized. We will be back!! What a great park and nice public bathrooms. If your handicap, you can take the handicap RV space. Just need a posted placard.

Hidden gem!

Willow Beach campground and marina is a part of the Lake Near National Recreation Area. It does require an annual pass to enter the area. Once in the check in at the Camp Store was easy and the staff was incredibly friendly. We stayed in b06 a spacious spot with a killer view that was well maintained and perfect for family camping. The are can be windy, so if that bothers you, check the weather closely before going. The marina is full of boarlts, jet skis, kayaks qnd rafts. Lots of swimming areas but no life guards for kids or adults who need supervision.

Campground

This is a fairly new camping area. Offers full hook ups as well as tent only camping. Landscaping and spacing is really nicely done. Camp ground also offers clean toilet and shower area accessible only by keycard. You get the key card when you check in. Also has a laundry facility. The Marina offers boat, kayak, canoe and paddle board rentals but reserve in advance!! Advance reservations for full hook up is also a must! Campground is quite. All sites have a picnic table and campfire ring. Tent sites also have poll for lamp. Small store at marina offers bait, food for camping souvenirs and firewood. Also a restaurant with a full service bar. Must wear face mask to go into either.

River Beaches

Great stretch of river that has several sections suitable for beach access. There’s a dock and boat launch area with beaches on both sides great for day camping but no overnight camping. We parked at a nearby parking lot and took our things down to the water and found a semi-shaded spot under a willow tree. The water was pretty cold but very clean and refreshing. The far side of the river is only accessible by hiking or kayaking across so the view was pretty much undisturbed. We saw a small group of big horn running across the hill side and down to the water for a drink. Very cool. As the day progressed the shade diminished so a canopy would have been very useful. We went in May and it was very full by the time we arrived at 11am. You can’t have open fires but charcoal or gas grills are fine. There are dumpsters but no running water or trash receptacles near so bring what you need and pack out what you bring.

A great day trip option for locals

A family friendly shaded picnic area with a grill. Each picnic table is shaded but they go fast on the weekends. There is a convenience store and a grill with burgers and fries. You can rent boats but it can get pricey. There are some shallow, calmer parts of the water that are perfect for kids.

The daily rate is $30 per vehicle unless you have an annual pass. There is also one pay phone that charges an outrageous rate per minute, so pack your outdoor essentials to be prepared.
