## Overview

Dogtown Lake offers a scenic setting convenient to Grand Canyon National Park and the cities of Williams and Flagstaff, Arizona. The campground is situated in a pine forest along the shore of a small and scenic lake.   
  
Visitors come here to hike, fish, mountain bike and explore the area's cultural and natural history. It's also a great place to relax and enjoy the sound of the wind in the pines and the spectacular view of nearby Bill Williams Mountain.

## Recreation

Campers are drawn to the area's hiking and fishing opportunities. The lake is stocked with trout, crappie and channel catfish. Visitors can enjoy a guided nature trail near the lake and a hiking trail that leads to a scenic overlook of the area from the top of nearby Davenport Hill.   
  
The calm waters are inviting for canoes, kayaks and electric motorboats. Single motors of one horsepower or less are permitted.

## Facilities

The campground offers 50 individual campsites, four double sites and one group site that can host up to 80 people overnight. All sites are accessible. The sites are level with pull-through and back-in options for RVs. Restrooms, garbage bins and water faucets are available, however, there is no dump station at the facility.

## Natural Features

Kaibab National Forest is nestled on the Colorado Plateau, an area of land that was uplifted by geologic processes. Dogtown Lake sits at an elevation of 7,050 feet. The lake got its name from the extensive prairie dog "towns" that once covered open areas near the lake. In spite of the name, this medium-sized body of water is surrounded by trees.   
  
Summer temperatures range from 50 degrees at night to 80-90 degrees during the day. Summer thunderstorms, known as the monsoon, can build up quickly, especially during July and August. Snow is common from December through March.

A number of forest attractions are nearby, including scenic overlooks, dams and hiking and mountain biking trails. From highway 64, take exit of woodland ranch road and go for about one mile and park is located on left side. This road is unpaved road. Using GPS while driving to this place is highly recommended.

There are gas stations and restaurants available 5 miles south near junction of highway 64 and highway 180.

Even though we have address of Williams, We are 37 Miles north of Williams and only 19 miles away from entrance of Grand Canyon South Rim.

## Overview

Kaibab Lake sits among the diverse landscape of Kaibab National Forest of northern Arizona. The lake is a popular spot for fishing and picnicking, as well as for RV and motorhome campers. With Grand Canyon National Park just 60 miles north and several other cultural and historic sites nearby, the location is a hotspot for recreation, learning and sightseeing.

## Recreation

Kaibab Lake is a popular area to join friends or family for a picnic in the cool pines. A number of forest attractions are easily accessed from the campground, such as overlooks, dams and hiking trails. A nature trail wanders through the facility.   
  
Swimming is not allowed in the lake, but anglers can take to its shores or deeper waters via an accessible fishing pier and small boat ramp. On clear nights, campers can turn their eyes to the night sky to enjoy spectacular views of summer stars.

## Facilities

The campground offers individual, double and group campsites with picnic tables and campfire rings. Tents, trailers and motorhomes up to 40 feet can be accommodated.   
  
Campers have the convenience of a group picnic area, restrooms, trash bins and water faucets. Drinking water is provided, however motor homes and RV water tanks cannot be filled due to limited water supply. Firewood bundles, ice, bait and ice cream are can be purchased on-site.

-Relax at the private sanctuary that we have created and want to share with you. Gopher It Acres is located on a unique ‘ancient oceanfront’ property, near the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

-The mountains and night sky views from this area are absolutely breathtaking!

-Our 2 private overnight campsites are within a gated, family and pet-friendly, 3-acre fenced property equipped with graveled pull-through parking, large mulch tent areas, picnic tables, solar camping lanterns, USB charging stations, limited WiFi, individual fire rings, and 16-foot fence partitions to provide element protection and additional privacy.

-Gopher It Acres has a private gender-neutral fenced-in bathhouse that has a hot shower, a sit-down compost toilet, a stand-up urinal, and a hand sink.

-Private Bathhouse is fully stocked with luxury biodegradable compostable natural personal products.

-The center stargazing lounge deck on the property is perfect for relaxing on. It has a table and camping chairs, making it suitable for use as an “outdoor kitchen” space. 

-Adjacent is a large toy box that contains an amateur archery set, cornhole, balls, badminton, water guns, volleyball, dog toys, and other family yard games. 

-The large metal fire chiminea located in the center of the property is stocked with firewood and tools that are accessible to guests.

-An on/off propane-powered campfire located at the center of the property is available for use alternatively.

-Gopher It Acres consists of terrain in the high dry desert at 6500’ elevation with ranch-style land and desert vegetation. We get 266 sunny days on average per year, minimal rainfall, and about 74 inches of snow per year.

-Gopher It Acres is a great destination during all seasons while traveling to the Grand Canyon or exploring what Northern Arizona has to offer.

-The property is located just off of the HWY down a 2wd accessible dirt road.  During wet weather the road can be very muddy. During those times Awd/4wd and or high clearance is recommended.

I am an outdoors gal and have been living in the area for more then 20 years! I love Northern Arizona and all the beauty and adventure this amazing area has to offer. I am surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest where you can hike, ATV or hunt to your heart’s content.

Kaibab National Forest has got what you need for a Northern Arizona getaway no matter what you are looking for. With three distinct areas: Williams, Tusayan, and North Kaibab, this diverse place will leave you with a perma-smile and a wild streak you didn’t know you had. Also, wait for it...this forest borders both the north and south side of Grand Canyon National Park! You can expect to enjoy biking, boating, fishing, hiking and many other activities!

On our mostly untouched hillside you can disconnect from the day-to-day hustle, see local wildlife, lie back in a hammock, and have the chance to interact with the land in its unaltered form.

Our entire setup is done in a way to be as sustainable as possible. Most items are built from up-cycled wood and we tried to limit the use of concrete and plastics. The goal was for you to feel like you are comfortably part of the natural environment. Please respect the land and it will take care of you! We respectfully ask that you try your best not to use single-use plastic during your stay with us. We really need to change our habits in order to save the earth! We have reusable metal water bottles for sale if you need them.

We started in 2019 with a piece of untouched, hilly land, and created a natural sanctuary for mindful retreats. We now have 3 glamping yurts open half the year, a tiny A-frame cabin which is open year round, a yoga deck, a sauna and cold tub, composting bathrooms and open-air hot showers, a picnic area, and more projects in the works. You're welcome to walk around exploring to see what animals you might see! We also offer 4-day yoga retreats which run most weekends from Friday through Monday. Yoga classes, guided hikes, Reiki, massage, or sauna use are available as add-ons for any guests!

Glamping is a great option for first-time campers since you don't have to buy or bring any gear! Our yurts and tiny cabin are fully furnished with comfortable beds, solar power, lights, and lots of extra blankets for those chilly mountain nights! Some listings come with a camp stove and cooking gear, or you can ask about adding on Chef Zach's famous vegetarian breakfast!

Please realize that this is an off-grid experience in nature. You will encounter nature and things that come with nature like insects, weather, etc. We don't have enough power for you to use things like hair dryers or curling irons on our system. If you consider yourself "high maintenance" please stay somewhere else.

Whatever you're looking for, this "Primitive Plus" boondocking-style (with extras!) experience is sure to be a unique experience for making some great memories! There are only a handful of available sites to ensure you have a very large area to yourself - wherever you choose to set up in this diverse environment. Great for large group retreats or the single camper needing a meditative experience in nature. The focus here is private, raw, beautiful nature. :) LAYOUT! The property is divided into two very large areas. You'll drive around and choose your ideal spot to set up your camp in the spacious and scenic camping area. And if you like, there is a gigantic area of the property off-limits to vehicles which is ideal for hiking and exploring. You can wander out there day or night, take some beautiful photos, swing your metal detector around, search for cool stones, even have a campfire or set up a tent and build yourself a second "satellite camp!" This gigantic area of the property offers some very interesting spots like a small dry pond and an old road that used to cut through the property as well as the guarantee of having no vehicles to watch for as you photograph, meditate, or whatever you're up to. It's completely up to you - it's YOUR stay! If your camping needs dictate that you need \*total\* privacy just message ahead of time so I can have a spot like that saved for you. STARS! The Spark is your "front row to the universe!" This area is known for mind-blowing stargazing as there is near-zero light pollution. It's PERFECT for viewing the Milky Way and meteor showers, shooting stars and drifting satellites. If you want the perfect place for watching any special night-sky event then I have you covered with some of the most clear and dazzling views of the universe... WILDLIFE! Although we are just a short drive off of the freeway (not quite 3 miles), we are remote enough that there is always the possibility of interesting wildlife sightings. Most common are the lullabies of cricket music and coyote song. It's not out of the question to maybe spot the following animals in the area: cows, antelope, deer, javalina pigs and elk. Various snakes including bull snakes are possible as well as the slight potential for rattlesnakes. There are also adorable prairie dogs here and there along with ravens, jackrabbits, squirrels, field mice and maybe the occasional wandering tarantula. Of course you always want to keep an eye out for things like scorpions, fire ants, snakes, and cacti anywhere in Arizona. :) Many of these animal sightings can be rare and most all of these animals will go out of their way to avoid us. :) Just keep an eye out and be responsible with your food and garbage, and make sure your children and pets are under your supervision and control...RESTROOM! Bring a flashlight for those nighttime trips to the restroom. It's a Porta Potty style restroom and it's nicer than you'd expect. :) It also has the official Guest Book where you can share your experience in the area with other campers! There are solar lights inside but you'll want to bring a backup light for those times when it doesn't charge very well. With no electricity or lights throughout the property, walking around in the dead of night is like stumbling through inky blackness. So bring some reliable lighting with you! Just a note: I keep this very clean but the tank can get smelly, especially in the summer. It's a Porta Potty after all, so the higher temps definitely will affect the smell - but all the surfaces will ALWAYS be clean. :)WEATHER! Please check the weather at zip code 86320 before coming. We are open all year during any weather (excepting emergencies) so you are responsible for making sure the weather forecast is compatible with your camping expectations! Weather considerations: during windy days prepare to pay special attention to using extra long stakes for anchoring things like tents, tables, and shade canopies. When rain is in the forecast it can get VERY muddy out here very fast. So if you see that rain is a possibility, be prepared for that. :) FUN AND GAMES! The Spark includes a modest "community fairgrounds" style area separate from the camping sites which includes a Horseshoe Pit and Cornhole Toss! Stay tuned for future outdoor weekend movie nights! (coming soon)HOST! The campground host lives on the property on a small homestead. This is where you will check-in and where you can purchase gallons of water and firewood bundles. And don't be afraid to ask for help if you forgot something you need... Can't find your phone charger? Do you need a battery jumpstart or to air-up a low tire? Did you forget your propane tank for cooking? Maybe you forgot your little camp stove? Have you just realized you need extra long tent stakes that you didn't plan for? Did you suddenly realize you forgot to pack your flashlight? If you realize you're lacking some kind of essential then ask the host! There is a possibility he has something you can borrow while you're visiting! PACK IN/PACK OUT! Please be aware that there is NO TRASH PICKUP currently at this time for the campground so be prepared to pack out what you bring in. :) Any dumpsters you may see on your way in are privately owned by other people and are NOT for our use. :) Also The Spark is a private homestead - there are no hookups for RVs. This is a boondocking experience. :) However! There are full services only 5 miles east on the 40 where you can dump your trash, empty waste tanks, and for refilling your water and fuel! (The Belen and Star station).GEAR AND STUFF AT THE MOONLIGHT MARKET! Available for rent ($10 for the length of your stay) are 6 foot folding utility tables. There is also a little area here called The Moonlight Market which is a self-serve collection of stuff you might want or need! Gallons of water for sale, ground stakes to borrow, emergency pet food, maybe a few souvenirs... and a changing selection of various items are available here with simple instructions. Self-service day or night! FREEDOM OF CHOICE! After checking in, the host will point out a few things you'll want to know such as the restroom, wandering area, and camping sites. From there you will simply enjoy a search of the property to find your perfect spot and enjoy the sun and the stars! No matter where you choose to camp, please keep in mind that the ENTIRE PROPERTY is yours to explore or take photos or test gear or hike or meditate or whatever you like! Think of The Spark as a "Choose Your Own Adventure" experience. And wherever you find yourself, day or night, you are welcome to be. :)CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT!
