Some of the best tent camping in AZ

We're frequent campers, and this is one of our favorite spots in AZ!

The tent-only campground is small, but the sites are large and have multiple great clearings for tents. Lots of shade and easy paths for walking around the grounds, plus there's potable water at several sites. Central…

Ok basic campground

Small campground not where dirt says, but it's marked with a sign and right along the road. Free, clean pit toilet, didn't see water, picnic tables, good for all except the bigger rigs. Shaded, near road but little traffic.

Quiet

6 mile dirt road that was in good condition passable with a car and trailer. 11 large private sites, 2 single unisex vault toilets, we stayed for 4 days and the toilets were not cleaned and no paper. No water available. Not very busy, 3 out of 11 sites occupied. Nice hiking available but no…

Easy to reach getaway.

Van camped one night to test out our new van conversion. Area seems well maintained. Man made lake, levels are low. Easy to access from main road. Spots seem spaced well. Nice pad, picnic bench and fire ring.

Excellent, easy campsite

We pulled into this site after a long day on motorcycles. Sites were easily accessible and our site had some flat ground and a fire ring. There were quite a few people there and we did not feel at all secluded in nature but, honestly, we didn’t mind the company and everyone was far enough away that…

Tent Camping with a view

This tent walk in site has been our family favorite for decades. The sites have plenty of room for 2 tents. There is a clean bathroom in the campsite as well as water. This sites are across the small road from the lake. This is our favorite place to camp with other family members since the sites…

Beautiful and clean sites

Many available campsites, some with tables, and this campground. First come first served. I was there in mid October and there were only a few other campsites taken. Lovely place and pretty quiet at night even though it's close to the hwy.

Best of both worlds!

Situated in NE Arizona, you get to experience cooler weather, fishing across the road and a local general store near by for those forgotten items. The camp grounds are clean and have ever amenity necessary without feeling like you're at a hotel. We like the spots in the back half of the grounds.

Good one night stay

Stayed one day on my way to Reno. Nice spot along the highway. You can hear vehicles but in a van, barely heard it. There’s prairie dogs and bunnies galore, which was a nice bonus. Clean porti potties and decent AT&T signal. I only checked out one loop but place has as least 10 spots. Some have…

Decent, safe overnight

Dirt lot with turnouts with shrubs and pines offering decent privacy and quiet. There are cement pads for vans or smaller RVs in some spots, and fire pits. The lake is now more marsh with abundant bird life. A gas station / convenience store is across the street. Good Verizon!

Unclear Directions

The directions given on the site for how to find this campground were not very clear. We spent a lot of time double and triple checking where we were to make sure we were going the right way. We ended up giving up because it was getting dark only to find out later that we were very close to it. The…

Clean, spacious and comfortable

We visit every year. The sites are spacious, there is are shared spigots and vaulted toilets in each loop. In the center, there are hot showers and traditional toilets. (The showers have been closed due to COVID). The campground is across the street from a gorgeous reservoir. Down the road is the…

Isolated Sweeping Views

I camped here on the 4th of July. Although I planned to go somewhere higher, I couldn’t pass on this site when I saw it. 4x4 is probably required.
