Almost Heaven

Found a great private spot on Dome Rock Rd. Beautiful views all around and plenty of room, so far.

Easy camping off I-10

This site was really easy to find and only 3 minutes off I-10. The road in wasn't too bad, a little bumpy but my sedan went slow and found a spot.

Not sure how many spots there are. Despite the other reviews it seems like I'm the only one camping here (although it's raining).

From my site you can see the highway, but it's still pretty quiet and the views are great.

Overall it's an easy spot to find, and even if you don't want to venture back to find an actual site, it's all BLM land so you can really just camp wherever.

Nice area, but to many campers for me.

This is a very nice long term (14 day) campsite, very close to the highway noise, and I prefer some place less crowded and quieter. Very easy access to and from the freeway. I would definitely consider this place for a stopover when traveling through and needing a rest.

A Little Too Crowded For Me

It was an okay camping spot. Phone and internet service was reasonable (internet was slow) but there were just too many other campers for my liking.  I was there in early-mid December 2020.  I took a hike back behind the Dome Rock and found that enjoyable. It was a very easy hike.

It was easy to get to, maybe that why it was so crowded. I doubt I'll camp there again except in a pinch.

Desert delight and for free

If you like the desert you will love this spot. Nestled below Dome Rock is this group of BLM camp sites. Beautiful sunsets. Do watch out for the cactus if you have pets. Water and dump facilities are in Quartzsite, just a few minutes away. There are other sites around Dome Rock. Just look on the map for BLM land and enjoy.

Desert camping

Big area with lots of places to camp. There is a host, & they would like you to register with them. It is a 14 day dispersed site. I found a nice level site with campfire pit not too far from the host site about halfway down Dome Rock road. A bit windy at times, and you can hear the I-10 traffic, which didn’t bother me. And It’s FREE to camp for 14 days!

Close to town

Dome Rock Rd. is close to Quartzsite and the Tyson Wells shopping tents that set up in January. If you're looking for quartz, this is the place to go. Gets crowded in peak season, so finding a more secluded spot may pose a challenge. Lots of fire pits. Be careful of large rocks

BLM Campground

Wide open spaces, rock fire pits but little privacy. The further off road your willing to go the more privacy you have. Some ATV noise close to the hills & trails.

Good basic BLM Camping

You can't beat free! Wide open, plenty of space for everyone to spread out. Rock fire pits but no other amenities.

Dome Rock BLM

Wide open spaces, plenty of space for everyone. The further south in the camping area you get from the frontage road the more privacy offered, however, there are little trails and ATV roads all over so nothing is truly private. Lots of fire pits or rocks to make your own. Be sure to register down the road. This is not the long term area. There is a bit of broken glass but so far we've haven't encountered areas of trash just thrown out.

Free & Near Downtown

Free dispersed camping, about 2 miles outside of Quartzsite, with no services available, but lots of space and beautiful views of surrounding mountains. Be sure to register with the Camp Host on duty near the entrance to the area. The major drawback is that you can hear the traffic on Interstate 10. Many RVers use solar panels for all or at least part of their power needs though, so generator use is minimal.

Sunrises and sunsets are endless and beautiful! Easy access back into town for food, gas, firewood, laundry, and just about anything an RVer or camper could need.
