Free dispersed camping along Palm Canyon Road draws campers to this remote section of Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. Sites line the gravel road with level pull-offs that accommodate big rigs, most featuring existing fire rings. The road conditions vary with recent weather, though many campers park partway down and explore further sections on foot or with ATVs.
Mountain peaks rise around the camping area, providing unobstructed views for stargazing without light pollution. Rock hounding opportunities exist on Crystal Hill itself, and hiking trails branch into the surrounding desert terrain. Cell service reaches most areas along the road. Kofa Queen Canyon offers another dispersed option just three miles north for campers wanting to explore multiple locations within the refuge.
