Locked gate- permit needed!

You need a permit to camp here! There is a heavy duty gate at the entrance which was open when we drove in at about 7pm and was locked when we tried to a leave at 6:30am. We got the combination from other campers but otherwise would have been trapped.

Rocky and wonderful

Once you figure out how to open the gate, it’s a little rocky so be careful with your tires if you have a low car when you get to the top of the hill there are beautiful views and large campsites

If you can find a private spot, it’s nice

This place is great for us as we have a bronco and an off-road trailer so we could get back into the areas that a lot of people couldn’t.

This place is great during the week, but during the weekend it gets super crowded and noisy since it’s an OHV area.

Great location close to flatirons

Awesome views of the flatirons. ATV noise was minor. Nice privacy. Need 4X4 vehicle, very large potholes. But an awesome spot with a fire ring. Room for two tents. 10/10 recommend, especially after hiking in lost Dutchman.

Boondocking on the trails

Close to Goldfield Ghost Town. Get the permit to Bulldog Canyon and hit the trails off roading.

Sick big yummy cactus

Watch your tush!

Incredible view. Temperature great mid January and the cacti stand so so tall. Great campground right off the residential area and views you can’t beat. I want to stay at this site for 14 days it’s so good.

Limited number of dispersed sites

We stayed here in the spring so the weather was great for no a.c. Boondock sites are on the small side and limited. Don't bring a big rig in here. There is a parking lot with a gate code that you need to get from the BLM but you can do that online. Park in the lot and walk in to scope out site availability. That way you aren't stuck trying to turn around. We have a 19' trailer so that wasn't a problem for us but could be for toy haulers, etc. A lot of ATV traffic here so be prepared to hear engine noise but the scenery is beautiful 😀
