RV sites are well-spaced with grassy areas between each pad. Wind Creek Atmore Casino RV Park provides 28 concrete pad sites with full hookups approximately 14 miles from I-65, offering both 30 and 50 amp service. Millers Ferry Campground, maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers, provides spacious water and electric sites without sewer connections, though a dump station is available on-site. Prairie Creek Campground offers big rig friendly sites with water and electric hookups, featuring paved pads that accommodate larger motorhomes. "The sites are well placed and spread out so you don't feel like you're right on top of the campers next to you."

While most parks near Marion Junction maintain year-round availability, summer months bring increased mosquito activity requiring proper preparation. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region, with Verizon typically providing the most reliable coverage. Several campgrounds include clean shower facilities, with laundry services available at Wind Creek ($1.50 per cycle) and Millers Ferry ($1 per load). Dog-friendly policies are standard at most locations, though dedicated dog runs are limited to a few properties. Propane fill service is offered at Kountry Air RV Park, while nearby towns provide basic supplies and restaurants. One camper noted that despite paved sites at Wind Creek, "you do have to level out still by around 3 inches," suggesting blocks or leveling equipment remains necessary even at improved sites.

      Kountry Air RV Park

      Clean quiet campground

We have stayed here many times when were on the road heading  out for the summer.  We had full hook up, a picnic table & there is a small clean restroom near the pool if needed along with a laundry room & place to sit inside if it's hot out.  They have DVD's and some books we trade them where were there. We only stay a night & stay hooked up to the truck. The owners Gigi & her husband work hard to keep the gardens beautiful, the campground maintained & the pool is so clean & refreshing.  You can get propane here.

We've stayed 3 different time & had a nice site towards the back with a garden on the side.

It's off the beaten path a little but well worth it.

      Millers Ferry Campground

      Great RV Lakeside Park

Third time at Millers Ferry! Water & electric hook ups . Good water pressure, dump station on property. Our site was paved and easily accommodated our 40 ft Rv/ fifth wheel & Dooley. Each site has a fire ring/with top grate to grill, picnic table, shepherd hook.Bathroom clean another one under construction. Nice playground. $1 for washer and dryer. Lots of sites are gravel as well, but level. Lots of people fish-parking for trucks & trailers at water ramp on property. No dog park, but lots of nature walks and paved roads to walk on. Oh yes, Lots of mosquitoes & ants, bring bug spray for a more pleasant stay! Shopping in town about 15-20 minutes away. Several good restaurants. There is a Piggly Wiggly, True Value Hardware, and Dollar stores. Approx 20-30 min to Walmart, next town over. Public lake for swimming, on site, with playground!

      Gunter Hill Campground

      Great Times

      Great time at Gunter Hill

Gunter Hill Corps of Engineers Campground We stayed 2 nights at Site 27 Full hookups (50 amp electric/water/sewer) $35/night Site #27. is a very long, back-in site, on a level concrete pad, very shady and secluded. The driveway is very long. The Catoma Creek is visible and a short walk just to the rear of this site, affording me quick and easy access to get to a bit of fishing.

The campground is just on the west side of Montgomery, a short drive off of the interstate, far enough away to offer plenty of peace and quiet. We enjoyed lots of walks around the park, getting familiar with the campground while exploring the Catoma loop and the more rustic, electric-only Antioc loop. We were able to put our kayaks in easily as well. The restrooms were slightly dated and dark. No trash pick up, but cans available nearby.

The campground served as a good base to explore nearby Montgomery and it’s suburbs.

      Gunter Hill

      We love Gunter Hill!

We are local (30ish miles) but love to just escape here when we have 3 or 4 days and don't want to travel long distance.  Perfect spot to be closer to the river in the summer and in the woods in the fall.  Catoma loop sites are full hookup with concrete pads including both back in and pull through options.  Antioch Loop does not have sewer hookup and these sites are gravel lots but offer some amazing water views.

Moundville Archaeological Park Univ of Alabama

I love this place. If you are into ancient Indian mounds and seeing the artifacts they have collected this is a place you want to visit.

Small well appointed museum to see. Information panels at the important mounds. Since we visited last year some improvements have been made to the camp sites. Level sites. 4 pull through with full hook ups for bigger rigs. This is a small campground, all sites have water and electricity with dump site as you leave camping area. Also much needed improvements to bath house.

Camping options near Marion Junction, Alabama range from basic to full-service RV parks within a 30-mile radius. The area sits in Alabama's Black Belt region, characterized by dark, fertile soil and gentle rolling landscapes at approximately 220 feet elevation. Summer temperatures typically reach 90-95°F with high humidity, while winter nights can drop to near freezing between December and February.

    What to do

Nature walks: Explore local flora and fauna on walking paths. Prairie Creek offers "pleasant walks around the campground with the added benefit of also being able to walk through the old abandoned campground that was destroyed by a hurricane," which provides an interesting look at natural regeneration.

    What campers like

Waterfront sites: Many campers appreciate direct water access at certain campgrounds. "Sites along the lake tended to be closer together than I like, but with great views," notes a Prairie Creek visitor who found the lakeside spots worth the trade-off for proximity to others.

Spacious layouts: Kountry Air RV Park receives positive feedback for its site configuration. "We were led to pull through site A with FHUs. Getting to our site was a little narrow but very doable. The site was level and pleasantly spacious both at and between sites," reports one recent guest.

Clean facilities: Maintaining clean restrooms remains important to campers. "Clean showers and laundry. Sites are paved with grass between," noted a visitor at Wind Creek Atmore Casino RV Park, highlighting the contrast between paved sites and natural areas.

    What you should know

Ant challenges: Multiple campgrounds in the area report ant issues, requiring preparation. Driving distances: Some rv parks near Marion Junction, Alabama require significant travel from highways. Kountry Air RV Park advises specific routing: "When we made reservations, we were told to only take exit 179 off I-65 and follow the GPS directions, as any other way will take you on narrow roads, including gravel roads."

Educational opportunities: Wildlife viewing can become a learning experience. Prairie Creek offers opportunities where families can observe local species: "Lots of people fish-parking for trucks & trailers at water ramp on property" with abundant wildlife viewing along nature trails.
