Amnicon Falls State Park Campground

Wonderful campground with waterfalls and hiking opportunities for families and adventures. Some mosquitoes but that comes with the adventure of being outdoors. Most sites are pretty isolated with foliage and trees. DNR staff were knowledgeable and friendly. This is a rustic campground with 3 vault toilets and drinking water locations spread out among 35 sites. No dumpstation at the campground for RVs but you can use the dumpstation at Pattison SP which is about 30 minutes. Wisconsin is loosing there position on the use of generators in there state parks that do not have electric at sites. You need to get the ok from the DNR staff. I would stay at this campground again if passing through this area.

Beautiful river with multiple waterfalls and little pools you can soak in if it’s warm enough out! A little pricey for out of state. Really close to Superior/Duluth.

Sites standard size a-lot of trees provides privacy. Facilities were nice. Falls are beautiful plenty of hiking trails to explore.

Stayed one night 10/16/22 on a road trip. Got in while it was dark. Easy to find, close to the highway. Easy to find the campsites once in the park. Plenty of available campsites this time of year. Lots of trees for wind protection and privacy. It was an 11$ vehicle entry fee and $15 online camp site transaction. Campsite was very sparsely populated. Vault toilets. Fire pit and picnic table at our campsite. In the morning, Short hike to waterfalls, upper/Lower falls were very pretty sandstone and basalt. There is a parking lot extremely close to the falls. (Now and then falls wasn’t running this time of year)

This park is really nice and the campsites were very well maintained, but it is very close to the highway so you hear a lot of traffic noise. I stayed at Site 16, one of the two walk-in sites. I was glad I brought a rubber mallet for my tent stakes, the ground was pretty rocky and hard. The site was nice, partially shaded with a perfect spot to put up my hammock to read a book. Lots of nice hiking trails and beautiful waterfalls.

Nice little campground. Clean toilets. Good water. Lots of good trails around the falls and river. You can hear hwy 53 and trains. Odd numbered sites have the best shade. Close to Duluth for kid adventures

Camping was good, but you come here more for the scenery and trails in my opinion. Falls are beautiful and you can swim in them! Just watch for sogns because some are too dangerous if the water pressure is too high.

If you go off the path you can also find hidden gems!

I think it was great overall. Campsite ground is really fine and dusty dirt and some gravel. Highway was really loud at night. Otherwise hiking was fun and water was low so we could walk in many parts of the river which was great for my kids and I. Be careful of flashlight use at night, campsites have trees between them but you can see and hear the people next to you through most of them.

The campground was mostly empty for our stay but the ranger said it was filling up by the weekend for most of the summer. Our campsite stretches back into the woods giving us a place to set up our teardrop and still have plenty of room for a tent and screen room. We love the plentiful greenery between sites - it feels like we’re alone out here.

The ranger was friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to get us a guide to a hike on the island by the falls. It’s a small island but we hiked there right from camp. The island is more of an open forested area. There are markers but you can also just wander. We found a few nooks around to relax in. Some were occupied by families so we gave them their space. There are plenty of picnic areas on the far side of the river. I’m guessing that it fills up with people wading in the water.

Even though we can here traffic from the highway it fades away when camp gets moving. This is a beautiful place to camp.

This is my favorite campground for a getaway of a few days. It's less than an hour from home, with great treed sites, a river with tumbling waterfalls, and a covered bridge.

The sites are all non-electric. We plan to conserve the electricity so we can stretch the batteries with out using the generator. There are outhouses, no flush toilets, and there are no showers. Basic sites, most with trees and plants that give you some privacy. Well maintained loops and facilities.

My family has spent many summer days cooling off in the pools of the Amnicon River. There are trails to hike. Wild flowers to see.

We stayed during a busy summer season and it was beautiful. We hiked a number of trails to get to water falls that cooled us. Access was good but traffic and parking was busy depending on destination.

Sweet little campground! Some road and railroad noise, but the hikes along the Amnicon River and spacious, private sites make up for it. We filled our fresh water at the park office (call ahead and ask). Very friendly and helpful rangers! Dump station is 18 miles down the road at Pattison State Park. Not too far from exploring Superior, WI and Duluth, MN.

The campground was fine, just like other campgrounds in the area, in the forest. I spent only one night here with my RV, and it was raining all day, which really ruined my time here. The next morning I did see the falls. The falls are pretty close to a lower parking area. A trail also leads to it from the campground.

Please note that you need to make a reservation when you arrive online or via phone. There is no walk-in. You also have to pay the daily State Park fee which is higher if you have an out of state plate; even for camping. If you spend more than 4 nights in State Parks it's worth buying the yearly pass. If you are only traveling through and lucky enough to find an opening, it can be a bit costly. Weekends are pretty much booked all summer.

I've seen many falls in the area and I must admit this is an impressive waterfall. I wish I had a sunnier day I would have enjoyed it more.

This is a small campground with about 35 sites, most fairly private. We were here mid week just before Labor Day and there were only a handful of other campers. It was very quiet, aside from highway and occasional train noise. The hiking here is beautiful and relatively easy. And, it's close to Superior/Duluth, where we found plenty of opportunities for an outdoor beer. We will be back!

The campsites are fairly close together and the highway can be heard, but they are tucked away from the main attraction a decent bit. However, you can easily hike to the trails and falls easily. The sites are very roomy and tucked into the pines. With the highway being right there, this makes a trip to Duluth only about a 20 min drive, yet don’t forget to explore this park! Personally I find this park to be more beautiful than Gooseberry Falls, yet much less known. There are several trails that wind through many, many falls which can be climbed on. My favorite state park in Wi!

Beautiful park, great, wooded site, awesome waterfall swimming! A severe thunderstorm and flash flood forced us to abandon our site for a hotel in the middle of the night once, so that was an unwelcome adventure, but we love this picturesque state park and would love to go back.

This was right off the highway and it was really simple to get in and out of here. Really a nice area and has a lot to offer outside of the campground. Great for a family who doesn't want to travel too far from Duluth. The sites are pretty spacious and well taken care of. They are very private which as nice and they were actually very deep so you really felt like you were in the forest. 

There isn't a shower house and the toilets are vault toilets but that does not bother us. Very very nice rangers and super helpful and full of good knowledge. You do need a sticker to get into the park since it is Wisconsin so make sure you get one ahead of it. They do have a kiosk but it was not working when we went in. 

The falls....can't say enough at how relaxing they were. I could have stayed for days here. There is also a nice covered bridge and some history in the area! We had some great relaxing hikes.

This is a standard campground. Not quite KOA like but the sites are decently close together. A little hiking in close area but if you're willing to drive a bit there is tons to do. I would recommend this campsite

This wonderful camp sight is the perfect pit stop off of US-2 with beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls. It is clean and well taken care of making it the perfect place to stop.

A beautiful, smaller park. We tent camped with our littles (2 & under) & they had a blast walking & sitting in the water near the Falls. There are countless locations on the Falls for your family to get cozy & enjoy the water in & out. Check out campsites 16&17 if available, private & short walk to sites. Overall all sites seemed to be a great size with most having decent privacy. Clean park & friendly staff.

We have camped here more than any other park! The chain of waterfalls are unlike any other park in the area because you can swim in almost all of them, the snake pit is a thrill for jumping off into the iron rich water (don’t be put off by the water color it’s natural and safe!)

Lots of walks and hikes directly from the campsite. The waterfalls are incredible. Overall clean area with very little litter. Bathrooms were meticulously clean for vault toilets. There was water but no sinks. The sites vary, but there are some larger ones with privacy. We wanted to stay two nights and could only register for one night in person although our site # was available for the next 3 nights. Meanwhile someone reserved it the next day so we just left rather than move down one.

What a scenic and gorgeous park. The falls and bridge are awesome. The campground is very nice but a bit crowded and noisy from nearby hwy 53. Otherwise a very relaxing and clean campground with friendly staff.

Amnicon Falls State Park is a great place to get away for the weekend! The park has several gorgeous waterfalls and the copper color of the rocks and water makes for a unique experience!

Quiet fairly private campsites. We were there early in the season, so not a whole lot of people; so it may be different during busy season. Campsites are decent sized and not far from many trails to hike.

Amincon is a hiking and photography dream. The staff at Amnicon are over the top friendly and helpful. Enjoy private feeling camp sites. I tent camp and I’m thankful that I have 10” steel stakes and a 2.5lb sledge hammer because the ground is very rocky. The sites are very clean and quite. Enjoy a short walk from the camping sites to the water and hiking trails. Bring your camera for sure! Don’t miss this Northern Wisconsin park just Southeast of Duluth Minnesota.

This is a decent park. There are some pretty water falls and campsites are very clean. They all have fire pits with plenty of room for your car or camper trailer. There are plenty of trees for shade. It is a very peaceful setting.

The real positive about this campground is that it is a great setting if you want to pull in your camper and if you prefer to rough it in a tent there is a parking lot and a trail for walk-in campsites.
