Standing Stone State Park Campground

Wasn’t many people when we went there. It’s close to Dale Hallow Lake which is an awesome area in TN. The RV sites all have slope and not great if you have a large RV it could be tricky get into and leveling. Camp grounds could use some updating for sure. It was very nice only having a few others in the campground. Standingstone lake and Mill Creek is located in the park with hiking trails. We did go on a hike around Pleasant Grove Recreation Area which was very nice plus exploring many Marinas around. Ate at The Quarry Restaurant off of the 53, it sits on top of an old rock quarry with spectacular views of the area.

Quiet campground for smaller campers and vans. Dog friendly. It is on the top of the hill, so prepare to hike to the lake. There are trails along the lake, and shortcut trails through the woods, mostly narrow and washed out. The pool is very busy in the summer. The campground is clean and sites are spacious and shady, most sites require leveling. Beautiful lake and dam, definitely worth the visit!

We camp almost exclusively in state parks. We really like this one. Restrooms could use an update but they're clean and well maintained. Laundry room is a great bonus. Sites can be tricky to back into. Ours was tough because of the angle, a drop off beside the road, and they have a very narrow entrance to the site. Proud of hubby for getting our 21 foot camper in . Verizon coverage isn't bad in the campground. The WiFi was very hit or miss for us with basically no one here...only 5 sites occupied. We would definitely come again

My husband and I did not heed the warning about the South entrance…narrow bridge…our total bad because it is clearly noted by the park!! Once we got past the lovely….one lane….narrow…stone bridge….the park was fantastic. The sites may be tricky to back into…but it’s quiet and so peaceful. We only stopped for one night, but plan to go back. USING the northern entrance…lol. Camp site wi-fi good, Verizon bad, ATT&T good…get guest wi-if from office.

We had a great time at Standing Stone! Loved the peddle boats, fishing and pool time! Large site and plenty of room to spread out.

We didn't and ended up driving an extra hour to get to the campground.

Our only complaint is the site was not level. When we were able to get the camper level the tongue was 40" high. We had to borrow 6 8X8 blocks from the Rangers in order to stabilize the front 

Other than that, we enjoyed the park because it is not a resort park and it was quite and peaceful after we got the rig set up.

Super clean facilities with multiple activities like boat rentals, hiking, ping pong, tennis in a scenic state park. Friendly staff!

Spent a partly rainy weekend at this park. They have so many things to do but we just enjoyed watching our son play and enjoy the playground and sandbox by the dam with another child. It was a peaceful campground probably because of the rain but it but it was quiet and nice. The sites are definitely not level but some adjustments and it's all good.

We spent two nights here in late March. We ended up being unlucky and having 7 inches of rain while we were there. Fortunately, it came in waves and mostly rained overnight. The park is very nice. The campground is pretty nice. It looks like the cabins are the main draw of this park. 

Pros: It's beautiful, quiet, and has a sweet dam. 

Cons: You have to drive within the park to get anywhere, the spots are hard as heck to back into, and the is 0 cell reception. I repeat, 0 CELL PHONE RECEPTION. That's not that big of a deal but we didn't expect it and it complicated things slightly for us. 

All in all, we loved It and will probably go back

We stayed here as a home base for visiting family in June.

There is little to no cell service in the park. You’re about 10-15 minutes from the grocery store.

The site (7) was spacious (we had a teardrop, shower/changing tent, ground tent, and rooftop tent). Did not have any issues with electric the whole time we were there.

Bathrooms were cleaned and stocked regularly. Staff was super friendly. We rented kayaks to take out on the lake. The rental price was reasonable and the lake was spectacular. There is even a kayak launch under the dock. The playground was great. The creek under the dam was awesome for wading, just look out for snakes.

We didn’t get to hike as we were doing other things but the neighbors told us the trails were well maintained with gorgeous views. The park is huge and would take awhile to fully explore.

The south entrance is a single lane bridge with a sharp turn so longer rigs need to come in on the north end.

Clean campground with plenty of recreation for the kids. Everything is spread out so be prepared to walk or take a short drive.

Some friends and I camped at Standing Stone during the 2017 Solar Eclipse. The state parks in Tennessee all hosted special programs for the event, and Standing Stone park rangers invited everyone to row out on the lake to watch this magnificent phenomenon. They provided boats and life jackets for everyone who registered and made sure everyone made it out on the water in time. The park also provided everyone with takeaway bags that included eclipse glasses and commemorative swag.

The campground and facilities included water and electric hookups as well as bathrooms with showers. Dogs are allowed as are camp vehicles.

The park has lots of great hiking trails, a playground, and a pool with concessions.

At the end of our trip, my car battery died and we called the park office. Within minutes, a park ranger arrived to jump me off. I can't say enough good things about this park.

This this campsite offers everything you need for a great camping experience. Out tent camping was complete with electricity and a short walk to the bathhouse. It also offered a fire pit and picnic table and lots of shade. You can rent a small Jon Boat for $50 a day and they also offer small bundles of firewood for $5. We fished on Kelly Lake and caught about six fish that were keepers.

Standing Stone is a great place to camp. The park has spacious campsites, a beautiful lake, and lots of great hiking trails. I would definitely go back.

This site has some really nice cabins. You can drive right up to the cabin and park. You will have full amenities and lots of room, depending on which cabin you choose. There are big lodging cabins for large groups. There are great trails all around the lake, dam, and old historic sites. Generally very well kept. Most notable part of the campsite is the staff. They are sooooo friendly and knowledgeable. Great to talk to and helpful all the time.

Standing Stone was full of large, beautiful trees. Super secluded feeling camp sites. Had a pool, volleyball courts, short hikes, and soccer fields. The bathrooms were super clean. We’ve been twice and LOVE it.

We absolutely LOVE it here. Beautiful sites and lots of good exploring and kid activities.

STANDING STONE STATE RUSTIC PARK is another park worth the drive. Standing Stone

Tn 52 takes you through picturesque farmland and into Clay County. You are in the country now, Folk Medicine fairs, tractor pulls and demo derbys are prevalent.

Celina and Overton are the nearby towns and Broadway Antiques to right (Tn 52) looked interesting.

A basic campsite with 35 sites, nice and small and quiet. The bathroom is clean and maintained.

Really neat old stonework dam and bridges. Lots of easy to moderate trails through forests and around lakes. The park's namesake is connected to Native American history. Heat suspended bridge has great views. Really pretty place to explore and close to a lot of other parks and state forest in the area. Lots of the campers seemed to be locals so you can get some unique recommendations. The campground is a bit more modern than I expect from a typical state park tent site, each spot has electricity. Great shade. Lots of families but didn't seem too loud. Every site seems to have both a BBQ grill and a fire pit.

This is a great place to camp and hike. Love to go back soon.
