Tower Fall Campground — Yellowstone National Park

Not all parking areas are level but there are nicely level tent pads. Quiet and shady, with lots of wildlife.

We stayed one night here and truly just used it for a quick sleep. The location is great- located near many of great things to see in Yellowstone. The campground itself is just your basic one, vault toilets, picnic tables, level place to park- no privacy, no views, no waterfront..... just no Awe Factor. Not a place I would spend an afternoon sitting in my camp chair. So use it for what it is, a place to spend the night and get up early to see the sights again the next day.

If you're coming from the North/East side of Yellowstone, this is a great campground to grab a last-minute spot. As with most of the first-come-first-served campsites, in the busy months you'll have to get here at 7am or so and wait for them to post any available sites at 7:30am. You can check Yellowstone's website to see what time the campground filled up the day before to get a better idea of how early you have to be here.

The campground itself isn't fantastic. It's small (which is a bonus) and mostly filled with tents and smaller trailers, so fairly quiet. Some sites are better than others. But what is great is the location and the price. For $15 you get to be right off the main "loop" of Yellowstone and it's a great staging area for seeing the rest of the park.

Stayed in Tower Falls for a few nights this summer. Location is very convenient. It even has an easy walking trail that you can hike down by the river in the camp. Overall an amazing experience. But Yellowstone in itself is an awesome place and I can’t wait to go back! 10/10 recommend!!

The sites are clean with picnic table, bear safe and toilet near by. The campgrounds are first come first serve so you need to arrive early and hope someone is checking out. There are toilets and pads but it was more set up for RV's except without hook-ups, but you could get cell reception and there was a camp restaurant/ store at the bottom of the falls. The person who was there to oversee the campgrounds was a lot intense warning that even if the bears smelled water in a water bottle they would come in an could attack... what about the fact that there was a FALLS right there?... I don't know

I loved every minute of Yellowstone! Will go back again!

We were going to camp in one of the free sites but they were full. This was a nice alternative.

This is a cool campground that is nestled up a small draw on the ridges above Tower Falls in Yellowstone National Park. You cannot reserve this campground, and because of it's distance from everywhere, it's extremely hard to get there early enough in the morning to get a spot before they are all gone. The Falls are beautiful and the store has a lot of stuff, but don't forget to look for bears in both directions along the road as black bears are often seen with cubs.

We stayed for three nights at Tower Fall Campground in June 2016. This campground is first-come-first-serve and fills remarkably fast. If you don't arrive by 6:30am to get a site, you may as well look elsewhere. As the name states, this campground is located near Tower Falls, which is just south of the Tower Junction. This campground is very, very small and we would not recommend it to anyone with an RV over 25 feet. Ours is a 17-foot trailer, and we had to change sites twice just to find one level and long enough to fit. The fellow campers at this campground were very helpful in rearranging for us to find a site that worked. In general, the campground was quiet even though it is compact.

That said, our stay was still very nice, and it scores high for the location. There is a general store just below the campground. As with all Yellowstone campgrounds, wildlife WILL wander through so be prepared with bear spray and stay aware of bison and elk. We had a bison wander through one evening during dinner, and we were forced to head in to our camper for about 60 minutes to let him pass by. It was fun to watch through the window!

Price for this campground is much less expensive than the reservable ones, but if you need a campground in summer time and have no reservation, we recommend this one for short stays.

The camp site isn't very big, it's worth staying just for the hikes to the upper and lower falls. Water and restrooms are available here. Lengthy trail to the falls. It's a big tourist spot so be prepared and set up early.

Since you cannot reserve at this campground, you have to plan ahead and wake up early! We got to the campground by 7am and secured a site. We loved camping there! The big campgrounds in Yellowstone are a bit crowded which makes them less enjoyable. The sites at Tower Fall are pretty spaced out, which is really nice! It's really quiet & really pretty! It's a great spot to camp when exploring the Northern or Eastern edges of Yellowstone. It's also close to Lamar Valley, which is nice because you can get there at dusk or dawn for some good chances of seeing bears & wolves.

We got the last sight and it was 3 PM so it fills up quickly in high season. The bathroom was a bit close to our site but otherwise a very well kept campground. Overall a nice experience.

Yellowstone is a place we will visit again, and again. It’s beautiful. One each of our trips we try to check out different campgrounds. The convenience to getting to other parts of the park is nice. The sites were not large, but seemed big enough for having extra space if tent camping. Just walking around in the campground you could hear the river, which was calming. Usually we avoid campgrounds in the middle of the park, but this might be the exception!
