Eighteen miles east of Shell, this US Forest Service campground sits at Shell Reservoir within Bighorn National Forest. The established campground accepts reservations and welcomes pets. Some sites position campers directly across from the lake on elevated ground among pine trees.
Brook trout fishing draws anglers to both the reservoir and the creek below the dam. A 4x4 trail creates a loop route connecting Shell Reservoir with Lake Adelaide for those with appropriate vehicles. Campers exploring the region can find places to camp around Shell for additional options.
Description
Fishing is allowed year-round, ice usually clears around early June. This fishery is comprised mainly of Brook trout, which are maintained by natural reproduction.
Fee Info
$9 for an additional vehicle.
