Park Reservoir

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reaching Park Reservoir requires a steep climb on Red Grade Road, and at least one driver reported pushing a tow vehicle's temperature gauge to its limit on the grade. Road conditions add another variable: construction above the Red Grade Road trailhead has introduced timed travel windows, so calling ahead before arrival makes sense. Four-wheel drive or a capable two-wheel-drive vehicle is strongly recommended. Facilities are minimal, with a vault toilet and an air pump on site. Hikers and cyclists have access to trails in the area, and the drive up provides open sightlines before reaching camp. Campers exploring dispersed camping near Bighorn National Forest will find nearby options as well, including Cross Creek Campground roughly a quarter mile to the southwest. Come prepared with fuel, water, and flexibility around the construction schedule.

14 miles short

My Honda Pilot has pulled my Shasta up some steep grades, but this one had the temps at H. Hot Wyoming weather didn't help. At present, there's work being done up the road from the Red Grade Rd trailhead, where they have timed windows of opportunity to travel up or down. Recommend you have either 4wd or very hardy 2wd. Plenty of hike/bike trails and a decent view on the way up at the trailhead. Vaulted toilet and air pump, but nothing else.
