Chalk Bluffs Campground

Accessible by a rough washboard road that improves past the boat ramp, Chalk Bluffs Campground provides fewer than 10 primitive sites managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The campground features picnic tables, fire rings, and covered wood patios at most sites, plus vault toilets and a nearby boat launch. Cell service requires riding or walking a few hundred yards from camp to pick up one bar of Verizon coverage.

Campers must bring their own water as no spigots are available on-site. The campground prohibits pets and offers no electrical or sewer hookups. Fly fishing enthusiasts use the location as a base for accessing multiple nearby fishing spots, while RV campers can accommodate rigs up to 30 feet. October visitors often find sites near Alcova less crowded than peak season.

Visitors often highlighted the excellent fishing location and quality primitive camping sites with covered patios. Road access can be rough, but most found the peaceful setting worth it.

Beautiful views of North Platte River

Rated a 4 star due to the wash board road. Take your time getting to the camp site, once pass the boat ramp the road is much better. Great dry camping parked on spot #3 with 30’ camper. Only a few people here in October taking advantage of this gem.

Nice View and Area

Nice spots for primitive or first time camping. If it had water access it would be perfect. Great for RV camping it even has a boat launch nearby and toilets

Wonderful dispersed camping

Great location for us to fly fish several nearby places. Great tables and fire rings and even covered wood patios for most tables. Less than 10 spots but only 3 occupied when we were there. No cell service at camp but rode bikes out few hundred yards and found 1 bar Verizon. Don’t remember if was any main water faucet as we haul our own but was out houses and no electric or sewer hookups.
