Castle Rock County Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sitting on the western shore of Castle Rock Lake in Adams County, Castle Rock County Park draws campers who want direct lake access without sacrificing amenities. The A loop sites overlook the water, and reviewers consistently note that the loop's large pine trees give sites flexibility for hammocks and social setups across adjacent spots. Full hookups are available, including electric, water, and sewer, with a maximum RV length of 60 feet, and two dump and fill stations serve self-contained rigs. The park is open year-round.

Water-based activity drives most visits here. The park has a roped swimming area, a swim platform, and a boat launch, and fishing draws repeat visitors across multiple seasons. Kim L. notes the sites have "plenty of trees and coverage for hammocks, fire pits can be moved," which speaks to the flexibility of the layout. Reviewers mention the campground stays clean, and dogs are welcome throughout. One practical note: showers require quarters, at $0.25 per three minutes.

Stores are sparse in the immediate area, but several bars and restaurants are nearby. WiFi is available on-site, and the campground provides drinking water, toilets, and showers. For hikers wanting more trail access, Buckhorn State Park Campground sits a short drive northwest and adds a different character to a multi-stop trip. Campers looking to compare options in the region can also browse campgrounds near Adams or consider Rustic Ridge Resort to the north as an alternative base.

Great Wisconsin Lake Camping Spot

A great spot for camping right on Castle Rock Lake. It has that easy, laid-back lake campground feel, with plenty to do without having to leave the park. Between the swimming area, boat launch, fishing, playground, concessions, game room, showers, and year-round access, it’s a nice choice for families, campers, boaters, and anyone who just wants a simple Wisconsin lake getaway.

Love it here

We went to this campground for the first time this past September. There is tons to do here including fishing and boating. Nice clean campground. Far drive to any nearby stores but a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. Carlson’s is the best! Had fun at the beach and down the road you can go tubing on the river nearby. We also enjoyed nature walking.

Loved it- lakeside camping and spacious sites

We had site A11, and just loved the location. The A loop is overlooking the lake and close to the beach. Big pine trees so your campsite is really flexible- we had 3 sites A10-12 and just made it a big area for the families to merge in. Plenty of trees and coverage for hammocks, fire pits can be moved. The only negative is that showers cost $0.25 for 3 min. We skipped the showers and just went swimming. There’s a big beach area roped off, and a swim platform for the big kids. There’s a boat launch, and Buckhorn State park is just 15 min away if you need more trails. Dogs were welcomed, plenty of bathrooms and trash locations. They have 2 dump and fill stations for rvs. We have a 28 ft travel trailer and had tons of space at our site. So far, this may be my favorite camping location in WI! We went mid August, and didn't have problems with mosquitoes but we load up on the DEET. We are already planning our group camping trip again for next year! Also was able to get a nice 6 mile run in on roads without much traffic.
