Courtney Lake Campground, located in Ontonagon County, is 22 miles southeast of Ontonagon, MI, on the Ontonagon Ranger District, in the northeast portion of the Ottawa National Forest. This campground features one loop with 21 spacious sites that can accommodate tents, trailers, or larger motor homes. It offers two "walk-in" sites for tent campers. Campsites are spaced with natural vegetation for screening. Each site offers a wooden picnic table, fire ring, lantern post and parking spur. Two sets of vault toilets are located in the campground loop and two pressurized faucets provide water for campers. Adjacent to the campground is a boat landing, picnic area and beach area. The 2.2 mile Circle of Life Trail, with its bog viewing platform adjoins the campground with trailheads at the south side of campsite #7 and across from the Beach and Day Use area parking lot. We tented on lot 7 during the second week of June. It was very quiet. I was lucky to find this gem and you will only have spotty phone service at best. My dog had more fun than I did and we did a lot of hiking.

This is a great campground to get away too. Everything was clean and well kept. Host were great.
ScoutStayed at Courtney lake CG while bear hunting nearby. Very quiet during the week with some campers coming in on the weekend. Water and toilets were available directly across from the campsite. Was a relaxing two weeks with no disturbances. Price was $14/day, but with Senior Pass cost was $7/day. Very reseasonable.
ScoutThe sites are large, clean, and quiet. I didn't camp in the equine section, but would love to bring a horse. The trail is well groomed and 5 to 6 ft wide. I will be back, and recommend this place to friends including equine friends.
ScoutPrivate sites, large, forested, near hiking trails and clean bathrooms. Fall colors are spectacular here! Eagle River is close by with charming shops and friendly locals.

This campground is closed for 2021. However we didn’t know beforehand and are glad we checked it out. Right by camp entrance is a historic covered bridge. We weren’t the only o es stopping to see it today.
We walked in to see the campground. Vault toilets, water and garbage are there. It hasn’t been mowed but the sites look medium size but most are well separated from each other. The ones we saw had more sun than shade. If you camp here, keep going around the bend to choose the best site. They curl around with some separation.
This is listed as an equestrian campground so we looked for the trail along the river. We found what looked like a trail but the weeds were high. I’d be interested to see what it looks like when it reopens.

this is a wonderful place offering programs for families, teens, couples, etc. lots of organized activities to choose from, family style dining (you don’t even need to worry about food), and a beautiful secluded setting.
ScoutOut of the way. Very private. Camped all the way in the back with only a few others in the campground. Would definitely be back to tent camp here.
