Goose Island

We are in 301 near the back and the sites are large, lots of grass, and beautiful. Trails around the park are wonderful for exercise and bird watching.

Directly at the backwaters of the Mississippi

The sites are close together near the entrance. The spread out as you get deeper into the park. Beautiful grounds. Good communication from the camp rangers when we had to switch sites.

This campground is ideal for boating, fishing and camping. Campground is nice with showers, bathrooms and full amenities.

Everything was fine here, but you are really cramped in (15 ft or less between you and your neighbor)!

Everyone was super nice and accommodating—overall, a fine choice for our first RV adventure!

This county run location is a nice place to stop. Good amenities. They do pack you in but I’ve been in tighter spots where I had to pay more , so we didn’t mind. The most expensive spot was about $30 a night. I think this is a party spot as a few people could be heard until 1 am, but overall it wasn’t too bad.

Our spot was right on a corner and made for difficult parking and lots of traffic. But the campground was large with available space last minute and the view was great.

Excellent place to kayak and explore the backwaters of the Mississippi. You can put in or take out at the boat landing. See map in photos for "canoe trail". Goose Island is a nice place for fishing, swimming, and kayaking or canoeing. I prefer to use Goose Island for day use rather than camping. 

The sites here are very close together and often campers are up until 1 am or 2 am in the morning parting. I've been here a couple of times during the week and it seems a lot quieter. Goose Island campground rustic sites, electric and water sites, and electric sites. You also find bathroom/showers, laundry area, water (fresh/flush), dump station, boat launch, and wifi at the store.

This campground is more for rv’s. The Mississippi is always amazing. Great place for families. Clean showers and bathrooms. I do not agree with the “sleeping unit “ thing. It’s just not my style but still a great campground. One of the things I like best is the playground is on the beach. My kid really loves that!

This campground is right on the waters of the Mississippi. There are several locations to launch boats, canoes, & kayaks. Plenty of areas to take a dip. There are a few playgrounds for kids to have fun at. Lots of areas for picnics and just to hang out, bring your hammock if you have one! There is a trail that winds around the back side of the park, but at times can be flooded. Make sure to bring bug spray because the campground can be overtaken by the pesky mosquitoes. If you're looking for time on the water this is your place to go and relax!

This place is a pretty great campground, and would be even better if it wasn't all under water this summer. Our site on the river was under water, so we got moved to another. However, there's lots to do here. Tons of fishing, several boat launches, several playgrounds for the kids, plenty of roads to bike and trails to hike. There's also a beach area for swimming and tons of sand volleyball courts. The bathrooms are also very nice with updated showers compared to most campgrounds, and there is a little store with a pool table and WiFi if needed. The only downside is how close you are packed in with other campers, but it's still worth a stay. If you can go during the week, it's much quieter then.

Not a huge fan of this campground. Sites are right on top of each other and often people are very noisy here. There's a big weekender/party crowd here and often they are at the beach until the wee hrs of the morning.

I do enjoy the views and good fishing in this area. Beware of the flooding and mosquitoes!

This camp South of Lacrosse Wisconsin is a great family or road tripping camp. Goose Island has very friendly staff and a nice little camp supply store at the entrance where you can also purchase firewood in two sizes of tubes. You’ll need a way to haul the wood to your site. We tent camp so we choose nonpowered sites away from the RV’s. The website refers to the camp as being on the backwater of the Misssippi. What ever it is, it is beautiful and right on the water. Bring the bug spray for the evening becasue the mosquitoes do come out in force. The camp facilities are clean and convenient. There is a small children’s playground and a small swimming area also. The camp was relatively busy in the powered RV area but clean and quite thoughout. It looked like there were some long term RV campers by the looks of their set up. You won’t regret staying at Goose Island.
