Sitting just off a major highway south of Madison, Badgerland Campground runs from mid-April through the end of October and draws a mix of RV travelers and families looking for a base camp with amenities. The campground is well-laid-out, with generously sized sites including large VIP drive-through spots. A swim pond with a floating platform, a catch-and-release fishing pond, and periodic activities like bingo and seasonal events give the property a recreational focus that goes beyond basic overnight parking. Lake Kegonsa State Park Campground sits close by for campers who want a public-land alternative in the same area.
Cleanliness comes up repeatedly across reviews. It's a consistent theme. Multiple campers specifically call out the bathrooms and showers as among the cleanest they've encountered at a campground, though the facilities are limited in number: one shower and two restrooms were available during a recent visit, with additional units closed. The shower is coin-operated, and WiFi carries a per-device daily fee, details worth factoring in when comparing rates, since nightly costs run $40 to $60.
One important note on hookups: despite listings that reference sewer connections, the campground does not have sewer hookups at individual sites. A pump-out service is available for a fee, and a free dump station is on-site. As Tony E. puts it, the campground is "very family and pet friendly with activities, lake and bar." Reservations are available online, and booking ahead is advisable for summer weekends given the limited number of non-seasonal sites.
