Enjoy the sounds of the rippling water while snoozing in the shade of the hammock or the nightly whippoorwill’s song as you are relaxing by the warm glow of the campfire. Once you have experienced this slice of “almost heaven” you will most surely not want to leave.



Riverside R&R

Located seven miles south of the capital city of Charleston, Kanawha State Forest is an outdoor lover’s haven. It is known for its extensive network of hiking and biking trails and has some of the state’s most popular picnic areas. Campers can enjoy hiking, playground areas, fishing, biking, and more.

Kanawha State Forest

We are located across from the newly constructed Hatfield McCoy Visitor’s Trail Center.  The campground is twenty miles south of Charleston, WV nestled between Corridor G (Route 119) and the Little Coal River near Julian.  The campground has 17 RV sites with a large amount of primitive camping available.  The RV sites have water, sewer and 20/30/50 amp power hookups.  We have a large renovated bathhouse with heat and air conditioning. The vending machine room has a  microwave for your convenience. The campground has DIRECT access to the Little Coal River Trailhead.

 The campground is located along the banks of the Little Coal River.  The tranquil stream offers fishing spots along its scenic banks.  Shopping and fine cuisine for all, is just twenty minutes north.  Many attractions are located near Charleston. 

The campground has one two bedroom cabin.   Also, a 36 foot travel trailer is for rent. 

The remaining Hatfield McCoy trails are to our south.

The campground has 17 RV sites with a large amount of primitive camping available.  The RV sites have water, sewer and 20/30/50 amp power hookups.   We have a large heated and air conditioned bathhouse. The vending machine room has a  microwave for your convenience.

A non-profit organization. Membership in the club is accepted if the applicant is in good standing in the public and there are membership openings available. The Club is located between Teays Valley and Winfield. 

FMC Sportsman's Club

The closest campground to the New River Gorge Bridge. Chestnut Creek Campground offers quiet primitive camping in the woods. We are a mere half a mile (0.5mi) from the New River Gorge Bridge! That's walking distance folks. Our hygienic facility has hot showers, lavatory stalls, hand washing sinks, and a wash basin located outside for dish washing and filling up water jugs. Firewood and Ice are available on site as well. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire pit. A general store and burrito bar are located literally around the corner; Both are within walking distance. Hiking and Climbing trail-heads (Fern Buttress, Endless Wall, Beauty Mountain; to name a few) are just down the way and access to the river is a stone's throw away (our drive is just across from Fayette Station Rd). If you're wanting to venture further to more local restaurants/shops; we are only a 5 minute drive from downtown Fayetteville. We are a pet friendly establishment for those with dogs who love to travel as much as you do. We keep quiet hours from 11pm-7am (starts @ midnight on weekends). Mainly we accommodate rustic tent camping, however; some sites are able to accommodate pop-up campers and trailers up to 20ft (we do not have hookups/electric). ## Overview

East Fork Campground is located on the shores of East Lynn Lake on the East Fork of Twelvepole Creek, near East Lynn, WV. Visitors come to East Fork for camping, boating, water-skiing, fishing, hiking, hunting and picnicking.

## Recreation

East Lynn Lake stretches 12 miles up Twelvepole and offers 44 miles of shoreline. It provides many recreational activities, including boating, water skiing, canoeing and swimming.   
  
Anglers fish for largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass, black crappie, red-breast sunfish, walleye, channel catfish and muskellunge. 29 species of fish have been found in the lake.  
  
Several miles of hiking trails thread through the wooded hills on the lakeshore, including the 1.5-mile East Fork Trail, which begins within the campground. Other trails in the area include the Damsite Trail, Overlook Trail and Lakeside Trail. 

## Facilities

The campground offers 167 sites with electrical and/or water hookups. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station. A boat ramp, amphitheater, playground, and basketball and volleyball courts are on-site. 

## Natural Features

The lake is situated among rolling hills forested with a mix of upland hardwood trees. A variety of wildlife makes its home around East Lynn Lake, including black bears, white-tailed deer, grouse, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, turkeys and waterfowl.

The East Lynn Lake Wildlife Management Area is nearby with 25,000 acres of public lands open to hunting, fishing and hiking.

The best camping near New River Gorge National River is anywhere you can find it. All campsites are primitive, first-come, first-served, and, best of all, free. Backcountry camping works the same way. You can park your van down by the river for free, as long as you’re self-sustaining. Amenities will be minimal at any of the nine campgrounds. Not all campgrounds are drive-in or RV accessible, so verify ahead of time. As long as you follow the park’s ordinances, you can camp here for up to 14 days.
