Navigation to certain campgrounds requires careful planning as some access roads wind through hilly terrain with tight turns. A review mentioned, "Att cell reception was at 2 bars of LTE as well making remote work possible" at one nearby state park campground. Many facilities offer sanitary dump stations, though not all include on-site propane refill service. Weekends during summer months and autumn foliage season see high occupancy rates, particularly at campgrounds with lake access or recreational amenities. Pet policies differ between facilities, with most allowing dogs but implementing leash requirements and designated pet areas.

Camped here for the Mothman Festival in mid-September. Fine folks running the place - the 90+ y.o. matriarch takes the money and calculates tax by hand. Make note that the pictures posted on the website are VERY outdated; the facilities are derelict in comparison. We were just there to camp so it was fine for our purposes (i.e., no need to use the event space (closed I think), pool, playground, etc.). Tent camping is a free-for-all first-come first-serve. If rain is in the forecast, don't pitch a tent by the river; many sites on the floodplain had washed out after a heavy overnight rain. Also notable, the bathrooms were perhaps the nastiest I've seen at any campground. I don't think they cleaned them once during our two-night stay, and just progressively smelled more and more like urine as the weekend progressed.
Great view of the sky for stargazing and telescopes at the sites in 40s. Trails are a little neglected though; lots of downed trees and faded blazes. Maybe it’s late in the season, and they will improve in the spring.
Laid back rv park on the Ohio river plenty of room. 10/10
We thoroughly enjoyed this camp spot right on the river. LOTS of different birds. And it was so quiet!
Ive camped here a few times in the kast few years and have really enjoyed it. They just put in a spigot to get water from. There is vault toilets. They cut down some brush to make a few trails that you can hike. This campground is surrounded by other free campgrounds in Jesse Owen's state Park but this is the only one that gets cell service. You are allowed to run generator.
Sites are small - especially the ones with power. Bathrooms are dirty and very worn out. Only 1 of 3 of the mens showers were working. Lots of spiders in the bathrooms and the stall doors don't latch effectively. Camp store (and access to ice) was closed for 'remodel'.
It rained a lot (not the park's fault) so it was pretty muddy the whole time I was there. I switched from site 7 (next to the bathhouse) to site 8 midway through, and both were fine and relatively quiet. It was busy and the bathhouse was kind of gross, but I guess that comes with the territory.
Had full hookups, but poor water pressure. Campground in city park, even had a splash pad and was quiet
