Great place to stay for a night

Pulled into the campground late. First come first serve. Lots of deer hunters there. Did find a nice level spot though

Nice overnight spot

Nice refuge for an overnight. I pulled in late. Road from I70 was in good condition. Plenty of spots for camping and a pond.

Down by the water

We found the second site going into the park on our way out. You can almost miss it going in. The driveway down to your site makes it very private. You are down by the small pond/lake which is alive with the music of nighttime bugs and frogs. We just pulled in to set up our tents to sleep so was exactly what we needed.

Beautiful but a little smelly

I showed up at 1am and drove around looking for a spot, settling for the one that was closest to the entrance, and much more private. It's a very pretty place, but smells a little of sewage (maybe someone pooped in the bushes?). Lots of animal noises

“Water views”

Stayed April 1, 2022. We were the only ones there when we arrived. One other group did come and stayed several sites down from us. It was very quiet. We picked a waterfront lot(number 5). It sat back in from the driveway around the camp. NO water available. NO cell service(even with booster antenna). Outhouse or ports johns available. Fire areas and Picnic tables at each site. Would return for sure! I will say there was a lot of litter!! It’s beautiful, free camping! Please leave it better than you found it!

Green and spacious

This campground is currently closed but hopefully opening in a couple of weeks. We were camping there as volunteers with the Buckeye Trail Association to assist with trail cleanup. The Buckeye Trail is easily accessible from the campground for hiking.

The campground has a beautiful lake you fish or kayak on and there are a ton of birds so bring your binoculars.

Some sites have good shade and some have absolutely none. There is no electric so come ready to boondock or bring a generator. There are sites on the hill or right next to the lake. There are water pumps and drop toilets which were semi clean.

It’s free to camp and first come first serve. You do have to have a permit which can be downloaded from the web. You do have to register and there is a camp host.

Wood is not provided and there are no rings but spots for your fire. Be smart, keep an eye on it. Picnic benches are at each site, some better than others. Each side also has its own trash can.

It is pet friendly, keep em on their leash. Some sites have more space than others if you want to keep your dog on a lead.

We lucked out with cool weather so not having 100% shade was fine with us this weekend.

Nice location, iffy maintenance

We stayed at this campground for two weeknights, and it was almost completely deserted. The site we stayed in was AMAZING- on a hill, lots of space, lots of privacy; the sites by the pond were smaller, but the non-pond sites were very spacious and could probably support small groups (3 or 4 tents). Each site has at least one trash can supplied, and there are two water pumps within the campground (we didn’t check if they worked, and there was no indication of whether or not the water was potable).

Unfortunately, the vault toilets were really gross and had not been restocked with toilet paper. I don’t know if there had been exceptionally large and messy groups there over the weekend or if this is the normal state of maintenance, but nobody came by to restock TP or check cleanliness while we were there (M/T/W).
