Wenatchee National Forest's Refrigerator Harbor Campground sits on Lake Chelan and requires a boat to reach it. No road access means no drive-in crowds. The site is primitive: vault toilets and fire rings are on hand, but there is no potable water, so campers need to bring their own. Cell service is absent on the lake. Fishing draws many visitors to the harbor, and a hike to Domke Falls starts from the campground. Winds and wave conditions can shift quickly, particularly in late August, so checking weather before departure is worth the effort. Among the campgrounds around Wenatchee National Forest, Domke Lake Campground is a nearby alternative for those who want a different setting on the same stretch of water.
