Situated within the town of Trout Lake, Washington, this county-run campground provides drive-in access with electric and water hookups available, making it a workable base for exploring the Mt. Adams corridor. Nightly rates run from $0 to $30, with senior discounts bringing costs down considerably for eligible campers. The layout divides into two distinct zones: hookup sites clustered near the entrance, and a more spread-out back section with individual water spigots at each site but no electrical connections.
Reviewers consistently flag the back area as the more appealing section, with better spacing between sites and tree cover that gives it a wooded feel despite the in-town location. A small stream runs through the campground, and several campers have set up tents directly alongside it. Flush toilets and pay showers are available through mid-September; after that, portable restrooms replace the facilities. Bring quarters for the showers. The campground allows dogs and accommodates groups, with a five-vehicle maximum per site.
The campground fills most noticeably during Labor Day weekend, when a community swap meet draws visitors to the area, but otherwise tends to stay lightly occupied. Crowding is rarely an issue. Kathy B. notes it "feels like you're out in the woods" despite the town location. Nearby draws include the Trout Lake Ice Caves and Goose Lake, roughly 30 minutes away and stocked for fishing. Campers planning to explore places to camp around Trout Lake will find this a convenient and low-key staging point for the region.
