Gifford Pinchot National Forest Trout Lake Creek Campground

With approximately a dozen sites managed by the US Forest Service, Trout Lake Creek Campground operates from May through November at rates between $10-20 per night. About half the sites sit directly alongside the creek, while others occupy more secluded spots away from the water. Standard amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, and vault toilets spaced throughout the campground.

The campground sits at a lower elevation than many area sites, reducing the likelihood of rain during visits. Sites offer space for two vehicles each, though vegetation between spots remains minimal, keeping neighbors visible. Even on busy summer weekends, occupancy typically reaches only about half capacity, with creek-side sites filling first.

Standard Site Away from Most Weather

Stayed here one Saturday night. Got there around 5 pm and while there were still several sites available none were by the creek. Ended up at one of the more secluded ones that matches most Forest drive in campsites. Has a Picnic table, fire pit and a place to park 2 cars. Bathrooms were spaced every comes of sights and were well maintained. At a lower attitude than most sites in the area and less likely to be rained on. It is a good over night for the Sleeping Beauty Hike.

Tucked away on a creek

This is one of those great USFS campgrounds in the Gifford Pinchot. It's small, maybe a dozen sites, and about half of those sites are on a delightful little creek.

While there's plenty of space between most sites, there's not a ton of vegetation between them, so you're definitely going to see your neighbors. Though, on a Saturday in July, this campground was only about half full. That half was, of course, the creekside half.
