Free and hike-in only, Gravel Springs Hut sits within Shenandoah National Park and gives access to a three-sided shelter that sleeps eight, a picnic table, a privy, a bear locker, and a bear pole for overflow food storage. The open side of the hut faces the fire pit. Spots fill on a first-come, first-serve basis, so arriving early matters, especially on weekends. A spring for water is located close to the site. If the hut reaches capacity, tent sites are available nearby. Bring a filter or treatment tablets for the spring water.
