Overlook Dispersed Campsite near Zion

We are staying for a week here. Is is super quiet and dark at night for star viewing. We are 40 minutes from the main Zion entrance and April is the perfect time to be here. There is a paved road in at this section so it is the best option around this area with a large rig.

Where do I even begin? This absolutely gorgeous campsite is just amazing! The perfect base camp for exploring Zion (just 30min away). Incredible views and very quiet. There’s a ton of space so you’re not right on top of each other.

Highly recommend AWD / 4WD of you’re going to stay above the main camp area. I was able to make it pretty easy in my Audi Q3 with minimal scrapes going slowly and carefully, but wouldn’t recommend anything lower clearance than that. Found a nice little spot overlooking the river/canyon. Still can’t get over those views.

The weather here in April was amazing (high of 73° F when I got here), especially compared to the mountains in Montana (where I live). It was 24° F and we had a snowstorm when I left, so this is much more comfortable lol. My family back in Texas said they were jealous haha

Looking for a free place to post up for a couple days on the west side of Zion. I have a small RV. There are many places in the area to camp for free. You can also take sheep bridge to get to the other side of the river canyon. There is no water access but it is a beautiful view of the water and the damn. I have 5g with. Verizon. I got here june 2024 on a Sunday and it is now Tuesday. I haven’t had a single person drive by. There is a reason. This part is tricky. For this exact spot don’t go up that hill by the dam road. (Road to the dam) right when it says restricted access there’s a dirt road to the left. If you have an RV there is a better way. Just look at satellite and do the 3 minute loop to get to the rim. There are at least 2 large camp clearings right on the rim!
