Quick stop for a night

1/2 mile of hwy 89, first right turn. First spot is as soon as you turn in on your right side. Big enough for van. Next spot is bigger for rv. Didn’t go up hill. If you continue down 580 about 3 mile , big open spot on right. 2 lane rd. Not bad after rain. If you go any farther you will have trouble turning around when wet if not 4x4.

So quiet and beautiful!

Stayed for 2 nights with our 25’ trailer. Dirt road was fine! No one else was there! So amazing to have a cup of coffee and view the beautiful landscape. Short driving distance to Buckskin Canyon.
No problem with our Verizon phones.

Beautiful area

Optd to camp out here for the night. Was about 3 miles back off HW 89. Super peaceful area. Was able to pull my 22ft TT with my Ram 1500 just fine on the way to the spot. You could probably get up to a 30ft TT or RV back there. There were a lot of spots available, just need to continue driving back

How do I access Kitchen Corral Wash Dispersed Site?

The campground is accessed via a dirt road off Highway 89. The entrance is about a half mile from the highway - look for the first right turn. The road extends about 3 miles back with various camping spots along the way. The dirt road is generally passable for most vehicles but conditions may vary seasonally, especially after rain.

Are there any attractions near Kitchen Corral Wash Dispersed Site?

Buckskin Canyon is within short driving distance and makes for a great day trip while staying at Kitchen Corral Wash. The campground itself offers beautiful desert landscape views perfect for enjoying with morning coffee. The general area is known for its stunning geology and hiking opportunities. Come prepared with maps of the region to explore the numerous natural attractions in this part of southern Utah.

Is Kitchen Corral Wash suitable for RVs and trailers?

Yes, Kitchen Corral Wash can accommodate RVs and trailers. The area has been used successfully by campers with trailers up to 25 feet long, and potentially vehicles up to 30 feet. The dirt road is navigable for these larger vehicles, though you'll want to scout ahead if you're uncertain about road conditions or clearance. Several larger spots are available, including open areas about 3 miles down the road.

What type of camping is available at Kitchen Corral Wash Dispersed Site?

Kitchen Corral Wash is a dispersed camping area on public land with no formal facilities or designated sites. It offers primitive camping in a peaceful, scenic desert landscape. You'll find various spots along the dirt road where you can set up camp. This is true boondocking - no hookups, no bathrooms, and no water sources, so come prepared with everything you need for self-sufficient camping.

How crowded is Kitchen Corral Wash Dispersed Site?

Kitchen Corral Wash is typically very uncrowded, with campers often reporting having the entire area to themselves. This offers exceptional privacy and a peaceful camping experience. Even during busier seasons, the dispersed nature of the camping area means you'll likely have plenty of space between you and other campers.

What are the best spots to camp at Kitchen Corral Wash?

There are several good camping options throughout the area. Immediately after turning onto the dirt road, there's a spot on the right suitable for vans. Further in is a larger spot that works well for RVs. If you continue about 3 miles down road 580, you'll find a big open area on the right that can accommodate larger rigs. For the most solitude, the spots further back tend to offer more privacy and scenic views.

What is the best time of year to visit Kitchen Corral Wash?

Spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures for camping at Kitchen Corral Wash. Summer can be extremely hot during the day, though nights may cool down considerably. Winter camping is possible but prepare for cold nights. The road conditions are generally good but may become challenging after rain, so consider weather forecasts when planning your trip.

Are campfires allowed at Kitchen Corral Wash?

As a dispersed camping area on public land, campfires are generally permitted when there are no fire restrictions in place. Always check current fire restrictions before your trip as these can change seasonally, especially during dry summer months. Practice Leave No Trace principles by using existing fire rings when available and fully extinguishing any fires before leaving your campsite.

What should I bring to camp at Kitchen Corral Wash?

Bring everything you need for self-sufficient camping: all your water, food, and supplies. There are no facilities, so pack a portable toilet or be prepared to dig catholes away from water sources. Bring garbage bags to pack out all trash. Weather protection is essential as the area can be exposed to wind and sun. Maps, extra fuel, and basic vehicle repair tools are recommended due to the remote location.
