This backcountry campsite requires a two-mile hike from the Elephant Hill Trailhead in Canyonlands National Park's Needles District. The trail crosses slickrock, sand, and canyon terrain marked by cairns, though hikers should carry maps and GPS for navigation. Campers must pack all water since sources are scarce or nonexistent, and WAG bags are required following Leave No Trace principles.
The site sits on a small ledge with space for three to four tents, accessed by crossing a creek that may be dry or flowing seasonally. Views include rock needles, bluffs, and the creek below. This is one of the first campsites accessible from the trailhead, with Chesler Park 2 (CP2) campsite in The Needles District — Canyonlands National Park located nearby for campers wanting alternatives.
