Rock spires and sandstone formations surround this backcountry campsite, accessible via a 4.4-mile hike from Elephant Hill Trailhead. The route crosses slick rock, traverses canyons, and follows cairn markers through The Needles District's distinctive geology. CP2 sits between massive boulders with open views across the plateau, providing space for three to four tents among the red rock formations.
Campers must carry all water, as none exists at the site or nearby areas. WAG bags are required for waste disposal, and Leave No Trace principles apply throughout the backcountry zone. The Elephant Canyon 1 (EC1) — Canyonlands National Park campsite lies less than half a mile northeast for those seeking alternative locations. The Joint trail feature sits 1.5 miles away, while additional Chesler Park campsites occupy the surrounding area within a mile radius.
