beware of dust storms when tent camping!!

Great place, my friend and I are tent camping and as two young women, we felt this place was safe, it had nice amenities as far as a composting toilet, picnic table, closed fire ring, and decent reception (1-3 bars). We were set up eating dinner and a pretty strong wind brought in a dust storm that lasted 8 or 9 minutes. It took out our tent, that we managed to salvage, but just be aware you are in an open area that is a valley that wind channels through.

Dusty night close to Arches

Do not follow google maps after you turn onto the road, follow the signs to dinosaur tracks and continue past following the main road to access campground. Very very windy today so we parked up against the mountain side. Toilets are available and trash disposal. WiFi pay at pay station and save money with your park pass. Quiet and away from traffic. Free range cattle nearby. High wind advisory ended at 9, it’s 10:44 and still swaying the rv. No fire tonight. Google did allow me to get my illustrious prairie dog shot. Edit: 11pm and still too windy for a fire. Low temps and generator restrictions after 8pm.

Good option at right time of year for area access

Stayed night of May 5. Arrived around 4p on a Friday and was pleasantly surprised at the number of available campsites. All FCFS. About 24 in total, we stayed in #19 but didn't look like any were bad spots. All spots exposed, no trees. SO remember---HOT in summer-time. Most had good views of sky and La Sals. Trash and vault toilets but no water. Space between sites good. Has a camp host. Dirt road in is a little rough with washboard. No apparent stickers but cows had been in the area recently per patties and prints in the dried mud. Close to dinosaur tracks, easy hikes and lots of bikes.

Got 5g in campground

Great new BLM CG north of Moab

This is a brand new BLM CG. This area has been a free dispersed camping area, but last year the BLM built this fee designated CG and eliminated all dispersed camping in the North Klondike Bluffs area. CG has 25 sites all first come no reservations., $20/$10 senior. NO Water, but vault toilets and dumpster are there. Each # site has a table and fire ring. Sites are all fresh gravel and level. Cell signal is great for ATT and Tmobile, but not so much for Verizon. Two reservable group sites are also adjacent. The dino tracks TH and MTB trails are walking distance. Less noise from the hwy 191 due to the CG placement behind a ridge. Access road from Hwy 191 is 1.3 mi of dusty washboard gravel.
