Beautiful surroundings, Easy Access

Not too far down the road off the highway, this spot was easy to access for my 35 ft trailer and extended cab truck. Only took an inch and a half or so of leveling to get level on my driver side. There's a few places you could put a trailer here. Just down the road from the reservoir. It was pretty hazy the night we were here, but it made for a beautiful sunset.

We had good TMobile and Verizon service here... Which shocked us!

Easy access and free!

Pretty area, flat spot not far off the main road. It’s the second right onto a dirt road, off the 191 south. Great for a night, lots of space in the pullout for two cars. Lots of cow poop as you’d usually see from a spot like this, but we never mind. Careful of some small hidden cacti scattered about. Further down the road was the reservoir, we didn’t go down but it looked pretty!

Quiet

Great place to rest and explore. Further down the steep gravel road is the reservoir. Great cell and internet signal. Beautiful sunsets!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the best free camping areas on BLM land in Utah?

Northeast Utah BLM Land offers excellent free camping opportunities with beautiful views and quiet surroundings. You'll find good spots not far off Highway 191, with a notable location being the second right onto a dirt road heading south. There's a convenient pullout area with enough space for multiple vehicles, including large rigs. Another worthwhile spot is further down a gravel road that leads to a reservoir, providing scenic sunset views. These areas are generally flat with enough room for larger trailers (up to 35 feet) and provide easy access while still feeling remote.

What permits do I need for camping on BLM land in Utah?

No special permits are required for camping at Northeast Utah BLM Land. This is typical of most BLM dispersed camping areas in Utah where camping is free and open to the public. While you don't need permits, it's always good practice to follow Leave No Trace principles and be aware of any fire restrictions that may be in effect, especially during dry seasons. Always check with the local BLM office before your trip for any temporary restrictions or recent policy changes.

Are there any time limits for camping on Utah BLM land?

Standard BLM regulations typically limit camping to 14 days within a 28-day period on the same site. After 14 days, you must move at least 25 miles from your previous location. This policy applies to Northeast Utah BLM Land as well. These time limits help prevent resource damage and ensure fair access for all visitors. While this area makes a great overnight or short-term stay, extended camping requires moving to different locations within the broader BLM territory.

What amenities can I expect when camping on BLM land in Utah?

Northeast Utah BLM Land offers true primitive camping with virtually no amenities. You'll need to be fully self-contained as there are no restrooms, water sources, trash facilities, or hookups of any kind. The area does offer surprisingly good cell and internet signal, which is uncommon for remote camping. The terrain is generally flat with some spots requiring minimal leveling (about an inch or two). Be prepared for typical rangeland conditions including scattered cow patties and occasional small cacti. The trade-off for this lack of amenities is beautiful views, quiet surroundings, and dark skies perfect for stargazing.
