Not bad
After having a bad experience at center lake campground, we got a recommendation from a local to check this place out. It was decent priced for getting a shower and a safe place to leave our stuff. Kind of an odd check in. No paperwork or anything. But it was clean and safe and not too busy considering we went there right as sturgis was starting. There is no store or cafe. But just down the road there is a very busy campground with that stuff.

Quiet but not well maintained
This is no longer “Wolf Camp” as the wolves have passed and the campground will be sold to, what we were told, two army sergeants on 8/2/2021. There are goats now in the wolf pen.
The camping was fine but the services are limited due to no onsite manager. We were ushered into our campground by two people working in the cafe area although when we arrived at 7:30pm, we were told beer or drinks were available but the kitchen was closed.
The managers house & the other house on the property that used to be amenities for guests are now rented out by people who made it clear they aren’t there to assist guests.
There are 8 sites that are full hookups/30 amps - one with a nice covered deck, several electric only RV sites and many rustic RV or tent sites in the grassy area.
If you come in with an RV, make sure you take Hwy 36 to Ghost Canyon Road to Playhouse Rd then a short hop on 16 and you’re there. Don’t come in on the Trail just before the entrance to Custer State Park or you may run into issues on narrow roads and sharp curves.
Would we visit again? I’m not sure. The picnic tables & fire rings are in strange proximity to the camping spots and they’re very uneven. It was a remote & pretty location, close to several sites but all around a bit disappointing.
The little Gem
