7 sites with really only 2 that can accomadate a 15-20’ trailer, van, truck camper or SUV camping. 4 sites are in the grove of Gemel oaks an offer wonderful shade (4,5,6,7) with #4 right on the river. #1 has a fairly large area for tents. You can also park a van there but is campground is primarily great for tents.
MOAB 4x4 adventure.
Convenient to MOAB and trails. Clean. Well maintained toilet facility. Camp manager available if needed.
Great location! Close to Arches NP, downtown Moab, trailheads and the Colorado River
We loved this campground! We arrived at 6:45pm on a Sunday and got lucky finding this site! We stayed at site 3 and had such beautiful views!

Perfect spot for a night.
Great site along the river right off of SR-128. Toilets are clean. Peaceful site that offers privacy from the freeway. Passing cars can be loud.
Close enough to the town, about 10 minute drive from cell service.
Bring bug spray, had some ants.
Good little spot
Enjoyed this campground on a weekend in August, 2019. Weather was good, warm but comfortable in the shade during the day, cool but comfortable at night. Bugs were there (obviously) but not terrible; mostly just little gnats that will buzz in your ear occasionally. Arrived around 6pm on Friday night and most of the sites were full. There aren’t that many to choose from, maybe 8-10 total. There is a loop with maybe 8 sites if you squish (everyone in the loop seemed really close together) and then two other spots closer to the information board and toilet. 1 of these sites is a large RV pad and the other is a great group site secluded in some trees. There is also a few sites on the drive in but they aren’t in the actual grove of trees. Fee is $5 per night. There was no host and it had been a while since the toilets were serviced/restocked (bring your own toilet paper). Beautiful area and the drive in was a good time. Once you get off the Leeds exit, it’s about 20 minutes or so on an unpaved road. There’s only a couple deep holes that you need to look out for but other than that you shouldn’t have a problem taking a regular sedan out there as long as you have decent tires that have got some tread. Pretty sunflowers and other scenery as you drive closer to the mountain. Fire pits and fires ok. Trailheads are there but we didn’t do any hiking so I’m no help with that. All said and done, 7.8/10.
Nice and out of traffic, great trail heads
Not too far out of the way, but far enough to not be heavily trafficked. Excellent trailheads nearby. Great trees for throwing up a hammock if you want
BLM campground
Busy BLM campground, first come first serve. Right off of Scenic Byway 128 in Moab, which can make the campground very noisy. Most of the day large 4x4 cars are zooming by and in and out looking for a site. Views were great, across the Colorado river is Arches NP. TONS of very pretty brightly colored birds in the area that fly in and out of your site. Pit toilets are maintained and aren’t too bad to use. There is no dumpster at Oak Grove, so you have to drive to Goose Island where they have a large dumpster to take your trash. Bring all of your water you need, there is no running water and you can’t filter the Colorado River. Per night the fee is $20, you can stay a maximum of 14 consecutive days. A BLM officer comes by to check your status on how long you are staying and if you have paid. Lots of other people camping for multiple days, and most left during the day to explore and left campsite set up. Arrive early in the day to claim your spot, we camped the week before Memorial Day and left on a Friday, and at 7:30 am people were already coming in asking if we were leaving and if they could have our site. The only downside to this site is how busy it is, and the constant circling of cars looking for a place to camp. I can not stress enough to get here early to find a site at this campground or the others along 128.

Cute little grove in the desert
bathroom and water taps available. Small campsite but plenty of disperse outside the grove. Great hiking trail starts and campsite and heads up mountain
views are to die for
great views of the rIver and the park in the morning! its so cIIse to Arches, I couIdnt believe it! it’s difficult to get a spot in the summer though, as it’s first come-first serve. relatively quiet, though also not the most private. you can definitely see and hear your neighbors. no showers, and pit toilets, but they do a good job of keeping everything clean!
Very cool drive up
But, after 6 miles of dirt road, I encountered the first sign saying that the campground was closed... and the road went nowhere else. Sigh
Perfect cozy spot in Moab
Our initial plan was to camp in Arches national park, and although I am sure that would have been absolutely fantastic, I am very happy it was full! We ended up finding the most amazing spot at Oak Grove, right on the Colorado river, with a view of big bend.
