Horse Trails Boondock

Horse trail riders will find this dispersed camping area serves as a staging point for equestrian activities in the Superstition Mountains, with temporary horse corrals often set up during peak use periods. The site accommodates various RV sizes and car camping setups along rutted access roads that can flood in low-lying spots during rain. Campers report consistent cell service and views of the Superstitions from most camping spots.

Located within dispersed options near Tonto National Forest, the area sees regular horse trailer traffic from 10 AM to 5 PM but quiets down in the evenings. The 14-day stay limit provides flexibility for extended visits, though road conditions may require higher clearance vehicles during wet weather.

Great spot for free

I stayed here for almost 3 weeks . Mostly RV's stay here and people bring their horses during the day from about 10AM to 5PM. Great view of the Superstitions and nice trails to walk to pass the time. It was getting pretty rutted and can flood in some low spots .

No one ever bothered me and didn't feel unsafe.

Free dispersed camping near Superstition Wilderness

This site is a starting point for horse trails in the area, and fairly close to the road. There were many cars, large RVs, campers, and trailers, as well as some temporary horse corrals when we arrived, but we still found a place to car camp fairly easily on a rainy night. Two miles from Lost Dutchman state park, and permitted to stay for 14 days.
