South Central Texas is a prime area of the state to explore. Known far and wide as the Hill Country, it is so named for its rolling hills and woodlands. Famous for its excellent wineries, historic small towns and natural beauty, the Hill Country also boasts a unique offering for campers known as Enchanted Rock State Park. 


Enchanted Rock is a large pink granite dome that rises 425 feet above the surrounding terrain and is the largest granite monadock in the United States. Indians, Spaniards and early settlers all had stories of magical, spiritual or unexplained happenings around the rock which gave the feature its name. These days, one of the most intriguing sights is at night, after a rain. The wet dome seems to glitter in the moonlight and while regarded as a simple play of light on the granite, the effect adds to both the mystery and enchantment of the area. 


Another intriguing site in the Hill Country is Jacob’s Well, a short 78 miles southeast from Enchanted Rock State Park. Fed by a natural artesian spring, Jacob’s Well consists of a large pool connected to a vast underground cavern system that sprawls more than 4300 feet. The spring is connected to the Trinity Aquifer and emits thousands of gallons of water each day where visitors can enjoy the cool 68 degree water. Jacob’s Well is a popular and welcome retreat from the famous Texas heat!

## Overview

Friendship Park is located in the gently rolling hills of the Texas Blackland Prairie. In the Spring it offers and exceptional array of wildflowers that blanket the landscape. Friendship Park is approximately 15 miles from Taylor, TX and 40 miles from Austin, TX.

We are a Veteran-owned, nonprofit 501(c)(3) horse rescue based out of the Waco area in central Texas. We serve Veterans and their families and local community and people from all over the states through rehabilitation. We house a training program and offer horseback rides and lessons.

We currently have one RV space with hookups for $35 a night and host guests weekly. We also offer an Equestrian site and have room for 6 horses, 3 stalled, and 3 pastured. We offer layover facilities.

We have a petting zoo, free-range horses on-site, and a pet piggy that greets u upon arrival.

We would love to host you!

We also offer a single Suite 2-person stay onsite, booked through Airbnb.

## Overview

Wilson H. Fox Park attracts a variety of campers looking for a fun-filled escape. In springtime, the campground is a colorful place covered in a blanket of wildflowers. In the hot summer months, there's no place like a lakeside campsite with a swimming beach, fishing dock and two ramps to set sail or paddle out on the lake.

## Recreation

Whether it's sailing, swimming or water skiing, visitors have many options for fun out on the water. Fish for catfish, white bass or crappie.   
  
Just beyond the park, archery hunting for feral hogs is allowed year-round.

## Facilities

All sites have water and electric hookups, a covered picnic table and stand up grill. Two playgrounds, two boat ramps and beach access are also onsite.

## Natural Features

The campground is on the shores of Granger Lake, with the gently rolling hills of the Texas Blackland Prairie as a backdrop.  
  
Granger Lake is fed by the San Gabriel River and Willis Creek, and was formed in 1980 upon completion of the 16,000 foot long dam. 

## Nearby Attractions

The Pecan Grove Wildlife Area is just east of Wilson H. Fox and sits below the dam. It provides plenty of opportunities for wildlife spotting, as well as a view above the dam. San Gabriel and Sore Finger Wildlife Areas are also worth a visit.

Willis Creek is the ideal place for campers looking for a variety of accommodations. A group campground and five equestrian sites are available, in addition to a row of standard camping sites.   
  
Granger Lake is a popular recreational destination, especially for boating and fishing. In fact, it's one of the best lakes in the region for crappie and white bass fishing. 

## Recreation

Boating and fishing are the most popular activities for campers. Horseback riders have six trails to explore in the Willis Creek Equestrian Area, ranging from 1 to 5.5 miles in length. 

## Facilities

Equestrian sites do not have electric or water hookups. Standard sites are equipped with 20/30 electrical. Four of the standard sites are equipped with sewer drops at the campsites.   
  
The group campsite fits 50 people and is equipped with water and 20 amp electric. No RV hookups are available at the group shelter. 

## Natural Features

Granger Lake, formed by a dam completed in 1980, is fed by the San Gabriel River and Willis Creek. The campground sits on the Willis Creek arm of the lake.   
  
The maximum surface area of the lake is 11,000 acres and the shoreline is surrounded by the gently rolling hills of the Texas Blackland Prairie. 

## Nearby Attractions

The Pecan Grove Wildlife Area, San Gabriel Wildlife Area, Sore Finger Wildlife Area, and Willis Creek Wildlife Area border the lake. Bring binoculars for birding opportunities.

Taylor Campground, on the banks of Granger Lake, is an excellent lakeside destination for families of all ages. The park pleases nature lovers with its hiking trail and water skiers with its easily accessible boat dock. Anglers flock to Granger Lake because it is one of the top five crappie and white bass fishing destinations in central Texas. Recreation Boating, hiking, hunting and wildlife viewing are all reasons visitors camp at Taylor. Hikers can enjoy the Comanche Bluff Trail, which loops around the campground and carries on in both directions along the southern side of the lake. Facilities The campground has 48 sites, each with water and electric hookups. Showers and flush toilets provide a comfortable camping experience and a playground and boat dock in the park, make entertaining easy. The lake is fed by the San Gabriel River and Willis Creek.
