Cooper Lake

Cooper Lake feels secluded. Lots of trees with a beautiful lake and well maintained hiking trails. It’s close enough to the Dallas area to be convenient, but never feels crowded.

Has potential!

This place is calm and pleasant during the day. At sundown, the party starts and goes till 2:00am. If you are looking for a quiet evening, this ain’t the place. If you are good with day time activities and loud music at night, join the party. My kids and I will go back simply because it is a clean…

A lot of amazing camping options

Seems to be the newer (or newly renovated unit) with a ton of camping options! Sits seemed close together but sections were really spread out! Enjoyed the inner-active trail and the fishing pier at the day use area! Really cool playground area bear the swimming area.

Close to town and still in the middle of now where

I have visited this a few times in 2019 and my husband and I went up here to star gaze. It’s always been quiet, clean and spacious. We enjoy getting away for a little bit and being that we live in Denton this is a great place to sneak off to.

Ray Roberts Lake

I tent camped here in December at the Hawthorn campground site 8. One thing I wasn’t expecting was that this was a walk in site. It was about 100 yards from the parking lot to site 8. Kind of a pain when setting up camp but it makes for a very quiet camping experience once you’re done. Water…

Shaded Camp

Great little spot tucked into the trees. Was a tad cold but got to hike the whole park in a day really. All flat minus some small slopes. Camp grounds are nice and well maintained. Nice facilities and plenty of area to fish your heart out. Would recommend bringing some sort of heater during the…

Nice state park

We don't stay at too many TX State Parks because of the added day use fee. We decided on this park due to its proximity to family in this area. The site was level and on a concrete pad with a parking spot right next to it. We did have a neighbor, so the space between us was fair. Our cell signal…

This is a big camping area, lots of campsites near the lake

The campground is nice and well maintained and sites are fairly well spaced with lots of grass, trees and open areas. The park staff were very friendly and helpful. We were in site 78 for 5 days. Only a few of the sites in the Deer Ridge campground loop looked level, fortunately ours was one of…

Simple Beauty

The park was a simple beauty get away. Nothing too spectacular, but still a nice spot in nature. The hosts and rangers were super nice and helpful along the way. Some campsites were so-so while others had 200 degrees of lake front views. These spots were jaw dropping.

The hiking is simple, the…

Charming and we'll cared for

Bonham is a small but uncrowded park. Lovely and clean fresh water lake. Tent campsites are well sheltered by trees. Big grassy group campsite area that looked inviting. Lots of biking/hiking trails. Nature is always a blessing but the landscape here is just your average Texas.

Great Place

We RV so finding a place with full hookups at each site was mind blowing! We were a bit close to our neighbors so if you’re looking for a site where you’re isolated, this is not the place for you.

We were on the lake so enjoyed spectacular sunsets every night. Lots of work is being done on the…

Clean Safe Family Park

Typical clean and safe for a texas state park. No public drinking. Very little wildlife. We did have some squirrels get into out tent, my bad for leaving sweets out.

No feral pigs which are common these days. Nice sized spaces with tent areas and tables spread out.

Bonus in the loop bathroom…

Beautiful, well preserved campground

This park was beautiful. We stayed at campsite 8 in the bright star loop and it was one of the best campsites I've stayed in. It was spacious and felt very private even though we knew there were other campsites close by. The site was also pretty level. We only stayed one night because we were just…
