  Extremely Nice Park with Ducks!

  Extremely nice RV park with large spaces and gravel parking area. Spaces are wide and have a picnic table on a concrete pad. Electric and water is separated, I hate it when water is on the electrical box! Internet speed is really good and they have cable TV hookups. Two laundry facilities, multiple dumpsters, kids play area, dog run, and multiple fishing ponds. There are a lot of long term patrons but still a good number of back in and pull through spots available for short-term. If you need to be in the north Houston area, definitely highly recommended.

  If you are a full tie RVer you have probably heard of the Escapees. The Escapees is the largest mail forwarding service and the clyb caters to full time RVers. Livingston TX is their main Headquarters, they do have 2 other semi Headquarters in FL and SD. If you are a full timer you now you need a domicile address and a mailing address for many things, this is how we do it. They have over 17,000 subscribers to their mail forwarding service, we are one of them. We stopped by this July to get our domicile done, vehicle registration, drivers license, voter registration etc. It was hot we will not come back in July again.

  The campground is split into 2 main areas. They have a lot of deeded lots for you to buy which has houses, motor homes, park trailer or just roof for your RV. They have long term areas, overnighter, short long term, weekly or daily. You do not need to be a member of the Escapees to camp here, but we hear in the winter it does get full.

  Camping full hook ups, electric and water, or just dry camping. They have just got some new internet on the area we were camping in and it was good enough to stream. They have a pool, clb house, activity center, 2 laundries, meeting rooms and a lot to do even in the summer. Most site are fairly level most gravel but do have some concrete pads. If it wasn't so hot I am sure we would have enjoyed it even more. One nice thing is they have a care center, areas that you can set up your RV and if you have something wrong with you they will help you out, take you to Drs, provide meals, help you. This is nice for us older folks that we worry about what happens if we need long stay for treatments and we have no home base.

  Stagecoach RV Park

  Clean, well kept and friendly host.

  This is more like a mobile home park for RV’s than a camping experience. Each space is a pull through that has a picnic table and full hookups including sewer. Most sites have trees. Most spaces are occupied by long term tenants as evidenced by skirting around the rigs. Evidently several children live here as well. There is a dedicated area to take dogs so they can do their business.
  Quite a few speed bumps. No gates so anyone can enter/exit at will. Laundry room and bathrooms have locks. Bathrooms are clean and free hot water. Pool/hot tub were closed. I stayed 3 nights in April. It felt safe, so I’d stay here again. People said hello when walking and waved when they drove by.

  Worst thing was the number of speed bumps…useful but not really RV friendly. I’ve added photos, and although I copied them from another source, they are valid photos of what I saw and experienced.

  Rayford Crossing RV Resort

  Well Managed and Manicured

  We had to return our travel trailer to the dealership for some warranty work and wanted to have one last little getaway before handing it over. We opted to stay somewhere in the vicinity of the dealership, and this campground had an opening. So, we booked one of the last remaining sites and hit the road!

  Located in a suburban area north of Houston, the campground was very easy to find. It was nestled among nice suburban homes but still close to the amenities of a suburban city. We arrived after the employees left the front desk, so they instructed us to pick up our materials at the front office. We immediately noticed how well maintained this campground was. We easily found Site 21, a standard back in site. The sites are all concrete and level with a yard of grass and full hookups, which we really appreciate. We were surprised that our site didn’t have a picnic table like we thought, but we probably could have called to request one (wasn’t a huge issue in this July Texas heat).

  This campground is more like a residential area. We noticed that many vehicles were gone early on a weekday morning. Many of the “campers” had potted plants and other items that indicated they were long-term occupants. There were many rules for the campground such as no items allowed on the grass or under RVs and no trash cans at sites, but none of these were unreasonable. Staff was visible throughout the day, often maintaining the grounds and collecting trash at each site (trash collection is each morning). It was extremely quiet, clean, and manicured.

  Would we visit this campground again? Yes, if we plan to visit the Houston area for business in the future. We prefer the forest and the solitude that it affords, but this is a nice place to stay if you have business in the area. Rayford Crossing has amenities that may appeal to families with children such as a playground, beautiful pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, and fishing. The nice paved roads and sites and the dog park were nice as well. Our only complaints would be the price and lack of privacy, but I guess that’s to be expected in an RV resort near a major US city like Houston. Basically, it served our purpose.

  Lake Livingston State Park Campground

  One of Our Favorites

  We arrived 151 days after making our on-line reservations for the very busy Memorial Day weekend in Piney Shore Loop campground. This was our fourth camping adventure at Lake Livingston State Park in the Piney Shore Loop. 

  Pros EXTREMELY quiet during the Memorial Day weekend. Even tho not backed up to 

  lake, nice view of lake from Site#55. Double concrete pad as it is an accessible campsite. Very level concrete pad; no need to do any type of leveling. Nice early morning shade onto Site#55 Very good privacy from neighbor Site#54 and Site behind#48 Park ranger drive-thru about every four hours Restroom/showers good working condition, clean, ample hand soap and toilet paper. Recently paved park roads very nice upgrade Mosquitoes were drawn to those who strung lots of lights throughout their site, so many did not use those lights which resulted in good dark conditions for night sky viewing. 1-2 bars AT&T cell service. Lowes, Walmart and small HEB close by n the town of Livingston Cons. Campers requiring mobility assistance may find this campsite very challenging, even tho it does have a double wide concrete pad. Site#55 labeled as accessible but is very accessible unfriendly as it is not close to campground toilet shower facilities, fire ring is up a gravel hill on driver side of camper. Piney Shore Loop sewer hook up required 20 feet of stinky slinky. No privacy from Site#56. No privacy from the campground road. Picnic table in mud hole nearly the size of the table and very unleveled with one end higher than the other end. Unable to move picnic table as it is chained to concrete pylon. Picnic table not wheelchair accessible. No afternoon-to-evening shade what-so-ever. Site#56 campers permitted their dog to run without a leash. No park WIFI

  Rainbow's End RV Park

  Good Travel Stop

  This park is owned by Escapees RV Club.  We joined Escapees for the benefits, which include discounted camping.  We've stayed at this park several times, particularly when in the learning process for our new RV, as there is a lot of support here.  A lot of full time RV'ers use Rainbow's End as their home base, and a lot of full timers stop here for long periods of time while moving across country.  I always learn a lot from these long time full-timers.

  The sites are decent, with gravel driveways and full hookups for both 30 amp and 50 amp.  They have an area for dry camping as well. are not level, so be sure to bring your leveling blocks if your rig does't have a leveling system.  

  There are a couple of bath houses and laundry facilities.  The bathing areas are kept clean and are spacious, but nothing fancy.  There is a swimming pool which is open in summer, but we've never used it.  They also have a weighing station, although I never used it.  Propane delivery is available once a week.  Sign up in the office if you want to get on the schedule.

  Lake Livingston State Park Campground

  FHU Lakefront Sites

  We love this state park and it's one of our favorites! This was our third time camping here in the Piney Shores Loop. We arrived on Memorial Day for four nights with reservations made 54 days prior. We weren’t loving Piney Shores#52 back-in campsite much due to: Steep drop-off of the concert pad and the narrow roadway making backing in challenging, but not impossible for our 27ft trailer.  Any larger rigs might not be able to swing it.

  The dirt area around the picnic table, fire pit and lantern pole was a huge MUD hole! What a mess due to daily rains. 

  No concrete pad under the picnic table, so your feet were in the MUD hole! HINT– Park Maintenance needs to apply some medium size gravel around the table and fire pit. 

  Picnic table (chained to the ground) and fire pit were right next to each other. WHO DESIGNS THESES CAMPSITES?? 

  Power interruptions, albeit short. Very glad we had our power surge protector. 

  We loved: 

  Very level concrete pad requiring no additional leveling efforts. 

  Huge campsite along the lakefront with access to launch kayak/canoe or even swim(which we didn’t). 

  Gorgeous sunsets over the lake. It was wonderful to sit at the fire facing the lake and watch the sunsets. 

  The squirrels that ate from our fingertips! It was also really amusing to find the squirrels VERY friendly. They just hoped up onto our laps and took peanuts in the shell from our fingertips! 

  Super quiet as only 6 full hook up campsites were occupied due to COVID operating restrictions.

  Lone Star Lakes RV Park

  Not for big rigs

  I called in late and was very surprised and delighted for someone to answer. I provided details that I had a long RV plus a trailer and will need a pull through spot with full hookup. She said it will be no problem getting in but may need help getting out in the morning. The driveways and turns are not exactly big-rig friendly as some other campsites. No problem with hookups or staff. And yes had to do quite a non-fun manouver to get out of there, so will most likely not be back. My only other comment is when we were pulling the slides in and jacks up I got a phone call from the office lady telling me she’s sees I’m getting ready to leave and wants to make sure I come pay. I had every intention to pay on my drive out, but this seemed like an odd idea to her to stop on the way out. Prices were a bit high for the area, wifi good.
