Close to Galveston but still quiet

Month long stay, $730, water, 50 amp. End of October/beginning of November the park is booked out as well as during warmer months. Half of the facilities washers and dryers didn't work. Staff is great about communicating lawn days and other news for long term guests. Trash valet and 2 free parking spots. 2 dogs parks, one for large and another for smaller dogs.

Hidden Gem in the Texas Swamp

We stayed at spot 128 in the Burr Oak. It was very easy to back into, the site is super wide and full asphalt. Site was very level. Bathrooms were somewhat close, about 4 or 5 sites down with a shortcut through the woods. Not a lot of street lights throughout the campground made things nice and quiet at night. The site had good Verizon cell service, around 25-50 mbps. The Tmobile service was around the same. This place is very remote and the park itself is huge, we only stayed one night but it has a ton to offer! Overall the campground was clean, very quiet, with a ton of activities.

The KOA is beautiful. It has the feel of a southerneque plantation meets the beach. The lazy river is a fun additional. Everything is clean. Mosquitoes are our of hand but would stay here again !

    Amazing

This place did not disappoint. Amazing all around! A lot of activities for the little ones and the pool was really nice and heated! There was even a couple residents that got out some kites and bubbles for the kids! The only negative is that this was our very first stay at an RV resort, so the bar is set extremely HIGH! We have now stayed a few others and this is still at the top of the list. It’s close to everything but yet far enough away. Will definitely be back!

    ONE OF OUR FAVORITES

This park is really back in there as from the office to the sites it's a good distance which is nice. Level sites and more than enough room between sites. If you like hiking, you can get it done here, just watch out for the gators.....

    very positive camp

It sounds like you had a memorable experience during your stay! Friendly staff, clean facilities, and great beach walks definitely contribute to a positive impression. It's wise to prefer the bay side sites for a quieter atmosphere and fewer crowds. Watching interesting birds adds to the charm, but it's essential to stay cautious of snakes, as you mentioned encountering a rattler. Making reservations in advance seems like a good tip to avoid any hassle, especially during busy weekends. If you need any assistance with your writing tasks, consider checking out https://payforessay.net/ for reliable help. Additionally, having reservations in advance can provide peace of mind and ensure a smoother experience during your stay, allowing you to focus more on enjoying the surroundings and less on logistical concerns.

    Great State Park for Hiking/Biking

We stayed in spot 112 in February 2024.

    • Sites are very nice, wide, and (mostly) level.
    • Campground is kept clean.
    • Bathroom is a bit outdated, but still clean.
    • Trails are very nice and appear top be kept up regularly.  Just watch out for the alligators.
    • Don't forget to reserve a spot at the observatory on Saturday nights...

    Fun community! Heart Stella Mare!

We stayed at Stella Mare for 2 months while working a project. Could not be happier. The lots are reasonably spacious and everything is clean, clean, clean! Staff is super friendly and helpful. Fun activities for everyone. Lots of longer term retired guests over winter months, but they like to party!

Laundry facilities are good. Housed in both men’s and women’s restroom/shower rooms. Only left 4 available to me at any one time. They are always in use. But they were clean.

We didn’t use Wi-Fi so I can’t report on that. Neighbors weren’t fans.

They have trash pickup daily between 10 am-6 pm.

Very dog friendly with dog doody stations and a small dog area for a little off leash time.

It’s been too cold for the pool, but it looks inviting. Also a fun splash zone for kids and a neat playground.

I highly recommend;y recommend this resort. Easy drive to public access beaches and everything along the Seawall.

    Holy popcorn!

First and foremost Cameron and his wife are literally the kindest most loving people we have met at a site. The daily popcorn with a different flavor each day was something my wife and I looked forward to. The park is EXTREMELY clean and well taken care of.

What an amazing place. Beautiful Lake and Beach.

We went there for the first time and were amazed to discover such an awesome place, only 20 minutes from our new home in Houston.

The staff was great and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. They have an indoor and an outdoor hot tub that overlooks the lake.

    We had so much fun.

It was surprisingly affordable as well.

    We will definitely return.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for an awesome resort close to Houston.

    Great Spot—Busy!

We stayed here almost 10 days. Did some jockeying around because we didn’t have reservations. Friendly staff, clean facilities, great beach walks, large sites. We prefer the bay side sites—quieter and fewer people. Lots of interesting birds to see, and watch out for snakes! We saw a big rattler on the boardwalk but we gave it space and it moved off right away. I would recommend a reservation to save hassles as this place fills up on the weekends.

    Jamaica Beach RV Resort

Repeat visitor- missed the mark this time.

This is our 4th visit to this resort. My entire family looks forward to this trip each year. There is a similar setup much closer to home, minus the beach but with the addition on a wibit course, that would charge the same rates in a weekend, as we get during a peak summer season for a week. With what this resort offers, it is more than worth the drive and price!

I will say, this year there were just a couple things that put a damper on the trip, that we’ve never experienced before. People parking along the narrow driveways or along the narrow roads, making it difficult to drag our rig in, was a negative mark as soon as we pulled in. Again, we’ve never had this issue before, but it made things difficult as the paths are just big enough for one vehicle. The second negative was a charter bus with a bunch of kids of all ages, pulled in. It wouldn’t have been too big of an issue except, this kids were WILD!! They were not RV guests. They came with a church just for the day. Which would have been fine, except they flooded the lazy river, and had no etiquette or manners. They jumped in the river on top of people, we’re throwing footballs, frisbees, and tubes- hitting guests with the objects, and most of the rv guests evacuated the area until they departed. I realize this is a business and they can do with it what they want, but when I’ve spent $500 to sleep in said resort, I hope for the amenities to be to MY advantage and safely. My children were hit with many of the objects thrown.

Now, on to the positives. Like I mentioned, this is our 4th summer spent at this resort. We truly do enjoy it. There are so many things available to do, you truly don’t have to leave, if you didn’t want to. Multiple pools, a jacuzzi, sauna, lazy river, mini golf, movies, bouncy pillow, and a brisk walk to the beach. That doesn’t include the multiple bath houses, laundry facilities, and the pavilion. We were disappointed to see the original hot tub filled in with soil, plants and mulch, but figured there must have been a really expensive issue with it, which it why it was filled in and an external one was brought in. Granted, it didn’t seem that the new jacuzzi was operating properly, as it didn’t get hot enough. But it was a nice additional, all the same. The gates to the pool and splash pad were locked, making it difficult for kids to go back and forth from the splash pad to the pool. We mentioned it to the office, but when we left the pool area 4 hours later, no one ever unlocked the gate.

The grounds are kept up daily. There’s always someone mowing, weedeating , or inspecting things to ensure everything is tidy. Most guests follow the guidelines and keep their sites neat.

We were put up against the road, which we were t thrilled with. It’s a good distance from the amenities, especially since we don’t have a golf cart, but it wasn’t as noisy or as bad as we thought it might be.

There are great places to eat nearby. There are also a couple of little stores, should you need anything!

    Family Friendly

We have visited Stella Mare every December for 4 years now. This last winter we stayed for 2 months and really enjoyed Galveston. The campground is well maintained. The staff is super friendly. They have events for all ages multiple times a week including kid and adult only crafts, candy bar bingo, wine night, s'mores, and golf cart parades for holidays. The coldest month is February. The Gypsy Joynt is a must visit for their delicious food, eclectic atmosphere, and giant cinnamon roles. The perimeter sites are smaller than the pull through, but are more private.

    Highway 6 RV Resort

    Fine place to live,

I lived in this park from October 2021 until mid May 2022.  It is a clean and orderly place.

I made good use of the showers and bathrooms that were always clean.  I also used the recreation room that had a pool table, shuffle board table and large television.  Each day there was coffee and popcorn available. Weight lifting equipment and walking machine were in the room also. One room had four computers and one printer.  The entire park is fenced. There is a locked gate at the entrance.  Residents have a code to open the gate or a remote gate opener can be used if a deposit is paid for the device. Across the street is a county park with asphalt walking/running/biking paths around the large lake. I stayed there again November of 2022 but was there just a short time until I sold my 5th wheel trailer. The park is a quarter mile of a major highway which has plenty of stores and fastfood joints.

    Awesome location , great facilities

Starting to get busy, probably the best time of year - before it warms up and the bugs return. Short walk to beach, close to town if you need anything. Did not use facilities so no comment other than great 50 amp and good water.

Only negative is dump station is a challenge if using tote (no ramp, gotta haul up curb). Campground facilities says there is sewer hookup. There is not ( other than for hosts)

    Recommend

I recently stayed at Highway 6 RV Resort and I have nothing to say about my experience other than good. The property managers, the administration had been incredibly hospitable and made sure that my continue to be was comfortable and pleasant. The caravan parks have been spacious and well maintained, and the facilities furnished were first-class. The sparkling pool used to be a great way to cool off on a hot day, and the laptop room and exercise equipment made it convenient to stay connected and lead an energetic lifestyle away from home. The location was also a big plus, thanks to easy access to everything Houston has to offer. The nearby West Oaks Mall and SugarLand Skeeters Stadium offered a variety of entertainment options, and the proximity to major highways made it easy to get around the city. Overall, I relatively recommend Highway 6 RV Resort and will definitely remain here again! Thanks to my company Andersen for a wonderful vacation, it was a great vacation with colleagues and we had a lot of fun!

Good for proximity to NRG stadium

My husband and I came to the Houston rodeo and stayed here strictly for proximity to the stadium. The RV park did have a shuttle which was very nice to get us to and from. Most sites are large enough for big rigs, you do have to park on the gravel right in front of your rig which can be tight. Nice concrete pads at each site. Traffic can be loud and there are many full-time set ups here with permanent residents. Has a gate with a code so it did feel safe at night. Small dog park that could use some extra TLC. Laundry on premises, no play ground, good wifi and Verizon service.

    Eastlake RV Resort

Nice place but not family friendly

I will start off by saying overall its very nice place with adequate space to fit most RV sizes. Now with that said, our stay was far from the experience we booked/paid for. First, we booked online and for whatever reason their site changed our reservation dates to -2 days than what we booked for, which we did not discover until we arrived and could not get in. Luckily a gentleman from their sister site answered pur after hours call and got us fixed up.

Originally this particular site was advetised as being family family which it is not. This place is very much tailored to longterm RV/campers who are 55+. Another camp site had teens messing around on the property and instead of addressing it with those campers, the facility/staff sent an email out to everyone saying, ALL kids under the age of 16 are not to be at the pool, using the restrooms/showers, or being outside away from their designated camp site without constant adult supervision. This was not advertised on their site when we booked with them, and so our kids were mature kiddos were forced to be babysat during their vacation.

Secondly, most of the staff are rude and when we tried to be polite and be patient with them, they still treated us like we were trash to them - they are only respectful and friendly with the longterm RV/campers.

In summary, I would NOT recommend this place to families with kids under 16, and honestly even if your kids are over 16, the staff would probably still tell you, they cannot be left alone.
