Located in the Sam Houston National Forest and on Lake Conroe. We have two kayaks used on a first come basis for no charge. Firewood is available for a fee. Deer and other wildlife frequent the property. Camp in the trees or by the water. There are 2 water spigots available for use but are not used for drinking water. Two electrical outlets are available for electronic devices on a first come basis. Also one 30 amp outlet is available.

## Overview

Cagle Recreation Area is a popular campground and day-use area that sits along the shoreline of Lake Conroe on the west fork of the San Jacinto River, just 1 hour north of Houston, Texas. The area offers great camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, birding and water sports year-round.

## Recreation

Anglers are drawn to the 22,000-acre Lake Conroe for its forested lake shore and open water. The lake is particularly noted for black bass and year-round fishing. Swimming is not allowed, but fishing, hiking, picnicking and shoreline wading are sure to provide plenty of fun for kids. Hikers and mountain bikers can try the 2-mile Cagle Trail within the facility. Learn more about recreation in the national forest.

## Facilities

The campground offers sites with full-service hookups organized into two loops. Each loop has sites overlooking Lake Conroe and restrooms with flush toilets, sinks and hot showers. The facility also has a boat ramp with large parking area, hiking and bicycle trails and a picnic area overlooking the lake. 

## Natural Features

Cagle is nestled among the pines of the Sam Houston National Forest. This area is covered with beautiful large pine and hardwood trees plus thousands of colorful wildflowers. Mid-February redbud tree blossoms followed by dogwood blossoms in early March put on a spectacular display of flowers.   
  
Lake Conroe and the surrounding forest provide wintering habitat for the endangered bald eagle.   
  
Temperatures are moderate to cool from September through May, and hot and humid from June to August. Winters are cool and wet. 

## Nearby Attractions

Visitors can explore the national forest's 85 miles of off-road vehicle, equestrian and mountain bike trails. The 128 mile Lone Star Hiking trail is nearby with a portion of the trail located near Lake Conroe.

Cagle Recreation Area

We are primarily a Permaculture learning lab and living center on 55 acres of land in the Sam Houston Forest in Evergreen, Texas. Camping fees help us meet new people and pay our expense and improvement costs. We try to keep our camping sites in tree stands to keep the look and feel of pure nature as much as possible. There is currently 5 sites. We are slowly developing new primitive sites. There is a pond on the property. The hike to the pond is a fairly easy trail. There are some open areas for riding your bikes and ATVs. There are many brushy areas for exploring. If you make it to the back of the property(bring your compass), there is a shallow creek year around. Bring your walking sticks, bikes, ATVs, fishing poles and bait, life jackets, canoe, kayak, raft, paddles. Off-grid primitive camping is available year around. Costs are$20 per night with your own off-grid camping equipment and $80 per night to rent our equipment. Tent setup is on the forest floor. We grow and regenerate the soil using organic principles. Please only apply bug spray at your campsite). City water is available to fill RV water tanks and containers near the Host shed. Hot water is available in your container upon request. There is an open outdoor restroom and shower for public use available at the back of the shed. We suggest a mosquito net for outdoor open sleeping. We suggest the following items be brought to make your experience more enjoyable: shower shoes, long sleeves, long pants, a hat, extra socks and close-toed shoes(rubber boots are nice), a rain coat, a compass, and walking sticks. In WINTER months we suggest clean loose fitting night time only socks, warm pajamas, and extra top sheet and blanket, a small foot blanket for inside your bedding, rubber boots, a warm hat and scarf and warm gloves. We will provide a portable potty for every 3 people and a fire ring. At the end of your stay, we will pickup any bagged and tied trash you leave and properly dispose of your human waste. A charcoal grill is available for use at no charge upon request on a first come first serve basis. Activities included as part of your camping fees include a group evening farm tour and/or trip to the pond upon request, access to pond activities, fishing without a license, hiking and exploring the property, bike rides on trails on your bikes. Youth archery upon request. As we get our tree guilds setup, any available fresh produce will be available for you to pick and eat during your camping stay. Evergreen Guild

The previous owner had plans to turn our property into a 42 site row by row RV Park. Once we saw the beauty of the property, we knew we had to keep it as wild and pristine as possible. On 6.5 acres the perfect number of sites was 19.

Buck Acres is technically not even an RV park, we just wanted to share our property with our fellow travelers so we added some gravel, and provide full 50/30/20A plug-ins and water we use Hip Camp and The Dyrt for bookings.

Buck Acres really is "close to everything but away from it all", still being close to city amenities, including Lake Conroe. Less than 1 mile to April Sound and the largest marina on Lake Conroe, 8 minutes to Wal-Mart, but peaceful and quiet on our forested property.

As full-time RV nomads ourselves we know RV park rates are getting crazy, this is our way of trying to help the community. We've done everything we can to keep rates down. The only amenities we offer are Wi-Fi, electricity, water, and an ADA porta john that is cleaned every week.

Affordable RV parks shouldn't be sweltering hot parking lots where you're packed in like sardines! At Buck Acres we have 100' tall hardwoods and pines that have been trimmed up 60' for the safety of you and your rig! Please be aware falling limbs are still a hazard, but we have the property trimmed professionally every year.

Buck Acres is still under construction and it is a labor of love. All proceeds go immediately back into the park (We have six electric/water sites fully functional)

HAPPY GOAT RETREAT

Stubblefield Lake Recreation Area was built in 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps as part of one of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal programs. Just an hour north of Houston, in the Sam Houston National Forest, Stubblefield offers great outdoor experiences, including camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking and picnicking. Stubblefield Lake Recreation Area

This campground area located at the end of Forest Service Road 271. It has eight campsites with picnic tables, fire rings and lantern posts. Tent camping is available here. Individuals must utilize the adjacent parking area and walk into the camping units. The area is very primitive with no potable water or electricity. Kelly's Pond is a trailhead for the Sam Houston Multi-Use motorized trail.

Kelly's Pond Campground

Nestled on private land deep in the National Forest, 100 yds to hiking trails, horseback riding, motor bike trails and hunting.  The lake is just down the road in several directions.  The tent has solar lighting and a 2 burner coleman stove, trash can, towels and soap and shampoo are included.  Available items, not included in the day rate are firewood, bedding, inflatable kayaks, stand up paddleboard, power bank and fan. Your 2 acre campsite is completely fenced to allow your dogs freedom to run, or bring your horses.  This site offers privacy with 2 sides backing to the forest and no other campers viewable.  The north part of Lake Conroe has some of the best sunsets and the most stars visible in the Houston Metroplex.

Guest Access:
This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with farmers, ranchers, and other property owners to offer unique outdoor accommodations on beautiful private land. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature! You'll have the entire campsite to yourself, as you'll be the only Campers enjoying this piece of paradise.

Each campsite includes a 10'x12' safari-style canvas tent on a raised platform, and you'll find one queen bed or a queen-size bunk bed inside (each site is different, see photos for the exact setup). Larger groups can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that___s provided (you___re welcome to bring your own camping gear too). You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs, and a heating source to keep you warm and toasty at night.

Occupancy: Max occupancy refers to the total number of campers allowed at the site during your reservation. We welcome campers with larger parties, but you may need to bring extra camping gear of your own in addition to the tent that is already provided. Please plan accordingly.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. Line the bucket with a CleanWaste bag supplied at the camp (or another appropriate plastic bag) prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. We got this idea from bathrooms used on NASA spaceships, and we've used the Tentrr Loo countless times ourselves- don't worry!

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

Interaction with Guests:
Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location on the property.

The forest is accessible without permits to hiking and horseback riding.  WMA permits are needed for hunting and maybe a hunting license.  Motorbike permits are needed to ride in the forest and unregistered bikes may be ticketed for riding on forest roads.  Please do not walk or drive past campsite entrance into other property owners land. Fishing at any of the ponds or lake will require a fishing license.  You can hike any forest road and any trail. Parking is located behind the tents. We request that you please pull off of the roadway and park close to the fence so other guests may pass by. Biking and walking on the small county road is welcome, but we always recommend to do so with caution, especially with the 'blind butterfly hills."

We are a dry camping property. Campers will pull into there RV spot and have use of common area BBQ and Firepit. BBQ pit is on a first come, first served. Campers are welcomed to use their own BBQ pit. There is a public bathroom available for use. We are located 14 minutes from Texas Renaissance.

WELCOME to THE WILDERNESS, a family friendly camping facility right in the heart of Magnolia Texas. Whether you're a solo camper, you're wanting a getaway with your family or you're looking for a place to host a group camp out, THE WILDERNESS is perfect for your fun-filled outing! As an extension of our overall ministry. You will park in our designated parking lot and hike in to the trail head and make camp at your site. Each of our 12 sites has a picnic table and fire ring. We have one cute little RV right behind our main building and part of our Wilderness Campground. You will have a very peaceful and cozy stay when you book the RV. The picnic area is right outside your door and has plenty of space to hang out. Several picnic tables, trash cans and BBQ pits. We have a shower house with 3 showers and 2 toilets in the mens and womens restrooms. Our Picnic area has picnic tables and BBQ pits for your use. We do recommend for you to bring your own trash bags and toilet paper as these items run out fast and we do not have anyone on staff full time to oversee the facilities. We do try to keep a close eye on it but sometimes we just can not because we are busy with other ministry happenings. We also ask that you keep the place clean and tidy. Cleaning up after yourself helps insure that the next camper is happy as well.

Come immerse yourself in a majestic...rural...little country hideaway nestled amongst the trees. Your next getaway is just a short drive from Houston, The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, and even the Dallas area! One other special thing to note: when we say private we mean private. Your lakefront campsite comes complete with surrounding privacy fencing and a locking gate. We invite you to Shabbat Retreat (immerse in sweet rest) while camping and sleeping under the stars. Shabbat literally means, he rested. And, couldn't we all use a little rest from time to time: a day of peace, meditation and time set aside to just relax -  a time of refreshing and reflection to recharge and experience the beauty of nature...creation? Besides, isn't there always time to make time for yourself? We dare you to say Nah, I'm good. 

Our little campsite offers a dash of Country Charm for your local Glampcation. Fish, Kayak,

 - Feel free to bring your own kayak, canoe, or an inflatable raft/kayak/canoe. Please no motorized water toys. Again, this is a Walk-In Site but you can drop off your gear and even carry a canoe or kayak through the gated entry to the campsite.

- Remember to please leave no trace behind. Cleanup the campsite before leaving. 

- Dogs allowed - Please do not allow your dog on the provided bedding/mattress. Pickup after your dog. If it poops, remember to scoop. Although we adore dogs we ask that you leash them if walking on our main retreat site.

- Unplug and enjoy the view @ your campsite: Tent Exodus XX

- Visit the scuba diving and archery facilities nearby

- Visit the beautiful Huntsville State Park, Sam Houston State Park, Lake Conroe, Trinity River, and Lake Livingston ~ as they are all nearby and within driving distance

- Check out some of the areas antique shops, local restaurants, shopping malls, flea markets, farmers markets and museums. Don't forget about the Walker County Fair and Rodeo!

- Visit some local wineries: Huntsville has wineries! You will want to check them out.

- Birdwatching is fun, too!
