Great Views

We arrived after dark. The road was easily accessible for a car. The site was cleared and ready for a tent. Las Cruces city glow is visible in the distance at night. The stars were out. We heard coyotes at some point in the night. The morning brought a brilliant sunrise over the mountains in the…

Sacred Place

Hueco Tanks is truly a sacred place and the campground is serene. You enter Hueco Tanks knowing it’s something special, knowing it’s something special both culturally and physically. Humans have lived here for centuries due to the natural holes that hold rain water in the stone, and the Boulder…

Nice flat spots

Just stayed here one night. We stayed in spot number 6, 30A hookup. The space and the view of the mountains was very nice, but the bath house may as well have been non-existent. The ladies room didn’t have any functioning showers and only one working toilet. The men’s room had one working toilet…

Army range camping

My son and I tent camped on the Ft. Bliss range’s south training zones circa 2014 at a place called Kerby Tank (see google maps) on the east edge of the range. It was a great adventure. Very empty and quiet with a great view of distant, northeast El Paso and the Franklin Mountains at sunset. It was…

Great Sunset Views

I found this spot here on The Dyrt as I was just passing through Las Cruces.

It was only about 10 minutes out of town and was easy to find. There were several larger RVs there when I first pulled in, so I was slightly concerned about finding space.

But the road that continues from the first…

Awesome!

Stumbled upon this Texas State Historic Park looking for something around El Paso. Called and captured the last site available for our desired timeframe. What an awesome camping area with a bonus of being able to explore the pictographs on both a self-guided and guided tour. Definitely worth a…

A Climber's Paradise, Close to El Paso

This park has achieved legendary status within the climbing community. Located 45 minutes outside of El Paso, many climbing-bum, dirt-bag, vans have parked here to send a few of its more notable bouldering “problems” and climbing routes. We saw more than a few of these great adventure rigs while…

Interesting and Busy

This is an active and protected archeological site. About two or three miles before the park, you will be stopped and questioned regarding your intent. The attendant then radios the park registration desk to inform of your pending arrival. Once registered, you will be sent on to a 10 minute…

Not as expected

We checked out the website prior to booking and were planning on staying for a full week, which luckily didn’t pan out. When we checked in we were told we could only stay a night, despite having made a week-long reservation. Understandable given the circumstances, but it would’ve been prudent to…

Nice campsites with a great view

Got a campsite right next to the sunset trail. Was great to hike a 100 yards up a hill to a gorgeous sunset view. Campsites themselves are suuuuuper cushy. Each have a pavilion, two firepits, and a well raked tent area with room for 3 tents. Definitely would like to go back and better explore the…

Dope

Pretty cool spot. You won't be alone but it has great views. 4-5 bars with AT&T.

Beautiful view!

Beautiful view, very quiet. Stayed at one of the drive-in sites (#44.) No cell service since the sites are tucked back in the mountains, but this added to the peace and serenity. Each site has a covered picnic table. Definitely great for a one night stay! I would love to check out their hiking…

awesome & fabulous

We really loved this place. Beautiful setting, hiking trails all over, there are people around but you feel like you have your own space, and of course free.  Very quiet.

Easy access from road for larger vehicles. There are pullouts as you are driving in for your own space. However, it gets…

Good for RVs, not great for tents

Crowded RV park, but had trees which was nice! Right off I-10 so traffic noise is always present. This would be a good place for RV camping, but not tent camping.

Nice place but small spots

Stayed here one night the park is very nice. Has lots of hiking trails and scenery. The rv parking is small only has 5 sites and no amenities. Be cautious if you have a big rig the spots are not very long and are pull in pull out. We stayed in spot 5 with our 36" and it worked for the one night but…
