Best RV Parks & Resorts near Chaparral, NM

Several RV parks surround Chaparral, New Mexico, providing convenient bases for motorhome travelers. El Paso West RV Park in nearby Anthony offers big-rig friendly sites with full hookups including 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Just south in El Paso, Fort Bliss RV Park provides year-round military camping with level concrete pads and full hookup sites. Hacienda RV Resort in Las Cruces features 113 sites with both 30 and 50-amp service options, gravel pads, and concrete patios. "The sites are large and can easily accommodate large rigs," notes one Sunny Acres RV Park visitor, highlighting the spacious layout that many parks in this region maintain for easier maneuvering.

Seasonal considerations affect RV camping availability throughout the area. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F, making functional electrical hookups essential for air conditioning. Most parks maintain strong cell service, with reviewers reporting "5 bars on Verizon" at multiple locations. Pet owners appreciate the dedicated dog areas, with Hacienda RV Resort receiving particular praise for its "large fenced dog run." Dump stations are available at all full-service parks, though Love's RV Hookup in Santa Teresa offers just 6 sites with a nearby dump station rather than at-site sewer connections. For travelers needing propane, El Paso Roadrunner RV Park provides on-site propane filling service, eliminating the need to disconnect and drive elsewhere during longer stays.

    Hacienda RV Resort

    Beautiful and relaxing

This is an RV resort, not to be confused either an RV park. Lots of large pull through sites, a few back in. Water, sewer, electric- 30/50 amp. WiFi, cable TV, patio with fireplace and hot tub. There used to be an exercise room, meeting rooms, copy & fax service, & laundry. The bathroom and showers are clean and nice. Plus, they have a dog wash area and one of the best dog run areas I’ve found at an RV park or resort! There is actually room for the dogs to run.

    Siesta RV Park

    Needs a refreshing

This is a small RV park just west of ElPaso. It’s older and could use some maintenance. Sites are level, but very close to. Lots of dust. (This is the desert , so maybe expected) 30/50 amp, water & sewer. Free WiFi and Cable TV No dog park. No pool There is a convenience store and grocery store.

    Hacienda RV Resort

    Hacienda RV Resort, NM

Located in Las Cruces New Mexico, Hacienda RV resort is conveniently situated right off of interstate 10. Their main office is closed currently due to COVID precautions, but they are still very accommodating. The sites are small, but have everything you need with level concrete pads and full hook ups. They have a large laundry room. Make sure you use the ones closest to the door (on the right) because they are newer and don’t leave your clothes soaking wet. The dog park is large and has several entrances- it also provides waste bags and a garbage can, which is a plus. The bathrooms are private and include a toilet and shower- clean!!

    Mission RV Park

Nice CG for Convenient Overnight Stay

We stayed one night (May 30, 2022). The is a nice, easy access CG with large, level pull through and back in gravel sites. It is located at the I-10 and 375 interchange next to a trucking container storage facility– there is a lot of road noise and trucking activity, but no bother. The WiFi was good as was cell service. There are a number of activities available: clubhouse, indoor swimming, tennis and basketball courts, playground, horseshoes, biking and walking (within the RV park). We did not make use of the laundry, bathrooms or showers. It was convenient for an overnight stay. We would stay here again.

Aguirre Spring Recreation Area and Campground

    Gorgeous 360 degree views

Beautiful spot. More amenities than I expected. Prettier than most national park campgrounds. The road in is fully paved but it is winding… a sign out front warns that trailers >23’ are not recommended. We had no trouble with our 19’ trailer. The site has fire ring, grill, trash can, covered picnic table, stone paving. Really nice. There are pull through and back in sites. We came mid August… there were only two other camping sites occupied. We enjoyed the sunset then rain set in for the entire night. It really is a gorgeous site. Way more amenities than you’d expect for boondocking.

    Love's RV Hookup-Santa Teresa NM 817

    perfect for my personal preferences

pulled into the loves parking lot that I had scoped out on Google maps. pulled directly into the first lane of pumps with the ass end blocking traffic. And from there, I could just pull forward and back into my spot full of fuel.

In the morning I made a reservation so I can stay here another night as well. I was just going to stay one night. But I can get Propane within walking distance of my truck and the subway shop isn't much farther. Maybe I'll check out the laundry facilities, too. I've already filled the freshwater tank and the water seems fine. Good thing I do not need to dump my black tank because even with the extension, I don't think my hoses would reach. The flaw in the design is that all the sites are back in and the pedestals and sewer ports are behind the RV when parked. Don't worry though because there is a dump station even closer than the propane refill. All six sites orient each camper pretty much due east west with the passenger side to the south. Actually, putting a sewer connection at each site is overkill when there is a nearby dump station, that you can use on your way in or your way out. For one night stops that's all you need. The street noise is tolerable. All the big trucks go to the opposite side of this complex. There were distant train noises and I could barely see the tops of a few cars over the western horizon. Getting the power turned on took a couple phone calls and unintelligible conversations over the intercom setup at the kiosk. I got $72 of propane and the attendant even carried a full 20 and 40 over to my site. While in the office paying for that I got them to turn the power back on, which was turned off at noon because yesterdays stay was over and todays had not started. This gas station and“travel stop” does not sell beer?!?!?!?!? Make sure to ask for your favorite adult beverage, maybe they will get some

    Hacienda RV Resort

    Nothing Special

Our RV GPS and Waze brought us right to this campground (CG) off I-10. Check-in was friendly and efficient. We were then escorted to back-in 186 with FHUs. When we originally made reservations, we selected site 181. At check-in, they were puzzled about how we knew about this site. The site was on the CG map and on the end of a row, so we asked for it. We were told that site 181 is reserved for their Regional Manager. Even though the site was empty, we were moved to 186. This site was long enough for our 40’ rig, but we had to park our F450 angled adjacent to the site. The sites here are also very close together. Water and electric sits pretty much centered on the gravel pad, with the sewer more towards the back. With our 5th wheel parked all the way back in the site, we needed 15’ of sewer hose. There was no picnic table nor fire pit. We had a clear shot of the northern sky for Starlink and 5 bars on Verizon. Their WiFi was usable. The water pressure here is really good, so we used a reducer. They have a long fenced dog run that runs along the south side of the CG and is in sections. Our dogs really enjoyed this dog area. They have a good-sized laundry room that you pay using your cell phone. Washing cost$2 and drying$2 for 45 min. Pay attention when pulling out on the main road near the office. We almost got hit by an oncoming vehicle turning left when departing the RV park. There’s a curve, and the locals drive this shortcut road well over the speed limit. The CG served its purpose for us to visit an old friend for a few days.

    Las Cruces KOA

    Beautiful views

Easy access off the I10 and very close to town and stores and restaurants . The campground is set up on a hill providing beautiful 180 degree views. The staff person in the office was wonderful, professional and helpful. There is a nicely stocked store. The park is very clean and the utilities were in great shape and easy to connect. There is a concrete pad assuring a level site. The picnic table was the nicest that we have seen, it was very clean, in perfect condition and made from great material. It is a lovely campground and we’ll be back.

Guide to Chaparral

RV campgrounds near Chaparral, New Mexico range from 30 to 45 minutes driving distance in surrounding communities. The region sits at approximately 4,000 feet elevation, with the nearby Organ Mountains creating a dramatic desert backdrop. Summer nighttime temperatures typically drop 30 degrees from daytime highs, making evening campfires at permitted facilities particularly appealing despite the intense daytime heat.

What to do

Explore local historic districts: Las Cruces offers cultural exploration opportunities within a short drive from local RV parks. "We took a short drive to La Mesilla and the farmers market in Las Cruces—definitely recommend both. White Sands is also not too far if you're up for a day trip," notes a visitor at Las Cruces KOA.

Utilize camp cooking facilities: Beyond personal setups, some campgrounds offer specialized outdoor cooking areas. A Las Cruces KOA visitor highlighted that "The open air kitchen it offered was top notch and a nice break from cooking on our propane camping stove."

Visit nearby attractions: El Paso attractions remain accessible while staying in surrounding campgrounds. "Close to downtown El Paso," mentions one reviewer about Fort Bliss RV Park, noting its convenience for exploring the city despite not being directly on the military base.

What campers like

Mountain views: The landscape provides scenic backdrops at many local camping areas. "The sites are large and level. The sites are spacious and have FHU 50amp service. We chose this park because of its central location to everything," shares a visitor at Sunny Acres RV Park, highlighting both practical amenities and aesthetic benefits.

Convenient store access: On-site stores reduce the need for trips into town. "There is a Shopette across the street from the entrance," notes a Fort Bliss RV Park visitor, while another camper mentions that Sunny Acres is "Very close to shopping, groceries, car wash and major intersections."

Recreational facilities: Activities beyond basic camping enhance longer stays. "The kids enjoyed cornhole, basketball, tetherball, and the playground," writes a Las Cruces KOA visitor about on-site recreation options, while others mention pickle ball courts and dog parks at multiple facilities.

What you should know

Military ID requirements: Some facilities restrict access to military personnel. "NOTE: Park is only for Active, Reservist, Retired Military members, their dependents, and blood relatives being escorted," states a Fort Bliss reviewer, important information for potential visitors.

Highway noise considerations: Road noise impacts many RV parks in the region. "It's FCFS but calling ahead made us confident we could get a site. Military ID required. Wonderful facilities and very inexpensive. The only draw-back is road noise from Hwy 54," notes a visitor at Fort Bliss RV Park.

Shower conditions vary significantly: Bathroom facilities differ greatly between parks. A Western Skys RV Park visitor reported, "The ladies room didn't have any functioning showers and only one working toilet. The men's room had one working toilet and one working shower, both looked and smelled like they hadn't been cleaned in months."

Tips for camping with families

Dog-friendly amenities: Dedicated pet areas exist at several Chaparral-area campgrounds. "Hacienda RV Resort has actually one of the best dog run areas I've found at an RV park or resort! There is actually room for the dogs to run," writes one visitor, highlighting facilities beyond standard pet relief areas.

Age restrictions: Some parks maintain age limits affecting family camping options. "55+ Park with monthly rates only. Pet park allows children for a few days only," notes a reviewer about Sunny Acres RV Park, important information for family planning.

Water pressure considerations: Bring regulators for variable water systems. One Hacienda RV Resort visitor noted, "Staff is friendly and let us know water pressure is high so use a reducer," showing the importance of proper equipment for protecting RV plumbing systems.

Tips from RVers

Reservation practices: Booking procedures vary widely between facilities. "It's first come, first serve no reservations. The staff at the office were extremely helpful," shares a Fort Bliss RV Park visitor, while others note that some parks offer after-hours check-in systems for late arrivals.

Site layouts: Space configurations impact camping comfort significantly. A visitor at Mission RV Park noted, "Everything is paved and feels super level. They were very accommodating for our dogs and tried to give us a site with a nice sunset view!"

Laundry facilities: Washing options vary between parks with different payment systems. "Laundry was $3 for wash/dry," reported one visitor at El Paso Roadrunner RV Park, while others mention "24hr laundry" and smartphone payment options at different facilities.
