Western Skys RV Park

Western Skys RV Park sits in Vado, New Mexico, operating as a no-frills stopover for travelers moving through the region. This established RV park accommodates larger rigs, with one reviewer successfully fitting a 43-foot fifth wheel without unhooking.

The park provides full hookups including 30-amp electrical service, though amenities remain basic. Sites offer views of surrounding mountains, and the staff receives praise for friendliness from guests. However, facility maintenance presents ongoing challenges. The bathhouse suffers from significant issues, with reviewers reporting non-functioning showers in the women's restroom and only one working toilet. The men's facilities fare slightly better but still show signs of neglect.

Location factors significantly impact the camping experience here. Highway noise affects sleep quality for some guests, while odors from nearby ranches create additional concerns. Jeff D. noted water quality issues, saying he "hardly felt cleaner after the shower" due to persistent odors from the facility's water system.

Despite maintenance shortcomings, the park serves travelers needing overnight accommodations with full hookups at competitive rates. For additional camping options in the area, see campgrounds near Chamberino. The park works best for self-contained RVers who don't rely heavily on shared facilities.

Many guests appreciated the mountain views and full hookups at good prices. However, numerous visitors reported problems with restroom facilities and noise issues from nearby highway traffic.

Surprised, in a good way

The staff is very friendly. We fit our 43 foot 5th Wheel and didn't have to unhook. No fancy amenities. Full hookups for a good price. Nice for a stop over. We would come back.

Choose other options

Manure from nearby ranches was all we smelled, it was overpriced for the accommodations, and the highway noise kept us up most of the night. Never again.

Nice flat spots

Just stayed here one night. We stayed in spot number 6, 30A hookup. The space and the view of the mountains was very nice, but the bath house may as well have been non-existent. The ladies room didn’t have any functioning showers and only one working toilet. The men’s room had one working toilet and one working shower, both looked and smelled like they hadn’t been cleaned in months. The water from the shower never stopped smelling putrid. Not sure if it was the propane heating he water or sewage mixing in with it. Either way I hardly felt cleaner after the shower. If you are a single woman and need to use facilities I would not recommend staying here.
